Challenge:


As Kelzals Hardware & Embedded Systems Engineer, you will be part of a team that designs, develops, modifies and evaluates electrical/electronic parts, PCAs, components, sub-systems and integrated circuitry for complex AI-enabled visual systems. As part of your effort you will conduct feasibility studies, design margin and validation analyses and empirical testing on new and modified designs.  You are expected to perform schematic capture, supervise PCB layout and troubleshoot designs in a lab environment. Design for manufacturability and Design for test experience. 


Responsibilities:

  • Develop board design incorporating processors and specialized hardware devices such as GPU, DSP, GPS, FPGAs, camera modules, serial ports, sensors, USB, and wireless IoT systems such as WiFi, BLE, Zigbee, NB-IoT (LTE/LoRa) or other.
  • Perform peer-review of associates designs.
  • Manage and expand relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on electrical hardware design and development.  
  • Responsible for all stages of electrical hardware design and development for complex products, solutions, and platforms, including design, validation, tooling and testing.
  • Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; provide tangible feedback to improve product quality.
  • Provide domain-specific expertise and overall electrical/electronic hardware and platform leadership and perspective to cross-organizational projects, programs, and activities.
  • Develop low-level firmware and hardware drivers
  • Drive innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the electrical hardware design organization.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.

Requirements:


  • Using electrical design tools and software packages including Schematic capture, PCB layout, Verilog, etc.
  • Experience with wireless technology. (e.g WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.)
  • Experience with selecting and programming FPGAs and microprocessors.
  • Experience with using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, soldering equipment, etc.
  • Familiar with signal integrity optimization techniques.
  • Familiar with EMI mitigation techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in overall architecture of electronic hardware for products and solutions.
  • Design and integrate electronic components into overall architecture.
  • Evaluate and propose modeling and testing methodologies to validate component, circuit, and hardware designs and thermal/emissions management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • BS/MS degree in EE/CE or equivalent
  • 5+ years hands-on experience designing hardware devices using high-density techniques.
  • Experience working with cameras a plus.
  • Current US work authorization
