The role:


We need someone like you to help create software tools that allow our scientists to capture, store, and draw insights from complex biological data. If you don’t have a biology background - fear not - we’ll get you up to speed. This is a greenfield project so creativity and fresh ideas aren’t just encouraged - they’re required!  On any given day you might:



  • Develop new API endpoints

  • Write front end code for UIs that allow non-technical users to intuitively interact with data

  • Coordinate changes to the database schema

  • Collaborate with (non-technical) end users to produce a winning design

  • Test what you’ve implemented - ideally with automated tests!


Our current tech stack:



  • Backend powered by Django (3.3) on Python 3.7

  • HTML5 with Bootstrap 4 (we’re transitioning to modern frontend framework shortly)

What we’re looking for:



  • At least 5 years’ experience delivering high quality software 

  • Comprehensive experience with Python

  • Experience with a modern web framework (Frontend and Backend)

  • Experience with relational databases and ORMs

  • Proficient with version control (we use git)

  • Experience practising good programming hygiene (delivering clean, reusable, documented, and tested code that follows best practices)

  • Confidence communicating in English

Python Application Developer- London at JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. (London, UK)

The group (located across London, New York, Houston, Buenos Aires and Mumbai) is responsible for the production, orchestration, capture and feeding of Risk and PNL data to various aggregators across the CIB for T+1 analysis by the Commodities, Currencies and Emerging Markets business performing a critical control function in today's highly regulated environment. In addition to this the group is responsible for the build out of the reporting and core business functionality in the Risk Central platform, the target state aggregation and reporting platform for Risk and PNL across the Corporate Investment Bank.

Using technologies like Python, Scala, Hadoop, Kafka and Spark, part of the teams remit is building a resilient high-capacity platform supporting the firm's business and regulatory agenda. On a typical day, billions of rows of data are fed to the system from both end of day batches and real-time calculators. A modern application stack is being developed to serve the needs of heterogeneous clients across the Investment Bank and Risk & Finance.

The role requires full-stack development and strong software fundamentals with the ideal candidate involved in all aspects of the Risk Central build out. This includes writing internal and external APIs, writing code that persists and aggregates data, and building services and other tools that are critical in enterprise grade mission critical system.
