- Support for the ESG projects encompass the telecommunication fields of technical control facilities, long haul transmission, and wide area networks and requires technical support is the areas of site surveys, systems engineering, technology support, telecommunications engineering, system testing for operational acceptance, installation support and technical instruction.
- Perform site surveys in order to obtain the information necessary to develop project documentation and drawings for planned DSCS and Wideband upgrades.
- Project Concurrence Memorandums (PCM).
- Develop Engineering Installation Packages (EIP).
- List of Materials (LOM).
- Project Drawings (AutoCAD / Visio).
- Provide engineering and technical support needed to ensure that all phases of a system fielding from planning through installation and acceptance testing are successful
- Preform technical evaluations that may include, but are not limited to identification of optimal equipment configurations, evaluation of equipment and system performance using recommended configurations, simulation of specific problems encountered in the field, and evaluation of new equipment or system components based on product specifications.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance to the installation team. o Conduct Engineering Validation (EV) and Acceptance Testing (AT) of fielded or specified equipment, links, circuits, or interfaces.
- Develop the Test and Acceptance Recommendation (TAR).
- Activate a new link / mission or transition active missions to the new equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems and repair or correct, if possible.
- Document troubleshooting and/or technical support efforts.
- Update onsite software and IP configuration and verify the updated system operates normally.
- Design, prototype, and test Internet Protocol (IP) based satellite communications gateway systems operated by the Department of Defense. The IP gateway system aggregates data, video and voice streams for transport over geosynchronous satellite communication systems using FDMA and TDMA IP modem technology. IP gateway features include fast network convergence; transport and application- layer acceleration; high availability; access controls; path isolation; inline network encryption, and service edges to terrestrial IP and legacy time division multiplex networks.
- Develop, review and implement System Design Plans (SDP), Systems Acceptance Test Plans, New Equipment Training Plans associated with the upgrade of existing systems and the fielding of new systems.
