To information-technologically develop our services further, and sustainably co-ordinate IT-related tasks, we are seeking to employ a
Head of Computer Science in Education
(permanent, full time, salary based on EG 15 TV-H*)
for our location in Frankfurt am Main.
Your tasks:
- Co-ordination and management of the IT team at the Information Center for Education (IZB), ca. 20 members of staff at locations in Frankfurt am Main and Berlin, focusing on software development, data management, development of portals and assessment
- Conceptual development, provision and maintenance of digital research and information infrastructures and software provided by IZB
- Conceptual and technical implementation of the IZB Open Science strategy
- Co-operation and collaboration with our partner institutes in Germany and Europe
- Budget planning, management of IT team regarding human resources and technical matters

Skills & Requirements
Requirements:
- A university degree that is above average and doctoral degree in Computer Science or comparable subjects
- Research experience in Information Retrieval, Data Science, Semantic Web or a field that is relevant to Open Science developments
- Sound knowledge and experience regarding complex, networked research and information infrastructures at a national as well as an international level
- Sound knowledge and experience in the area of setting up and running science research and information infrastructures
- Demonstrated leadership skills and practical experience in human resource management and management of teams
- Practical experience in project acquisition and budget planning
- Very good German and English language skills, written and spoken
Preferably, candidates should have:
- knowledge and experience in the field of educational technology or computer science in education
- knowledge and experience in negotiating with, and co-ordinating, external software providers
- knowledge and experience in negotiating and managing internal/external customer orders
