About Us
The Foundation for Physical Therapy Research (FPTR) funds research and develops researchers to optimize movement and health. The FPTR annually funds over $1 million in scholarships, fellowships and grants to researchers dedicated to advancing patient care. We are a national 501(c) (3) charitable organization governed by a Board of Trustees located in Alexandria, VA.
The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), a 501(c) (6) organization whose purpose is to represent and promote the profession of physical therapy and to meet the needs of its members, is a benefactor of the Foundation. The Foundation contracts with APTA for certain services including human resources and staffing, as such, Foundation staff are employed by APTA and receive the same employee benefits.

Role Overview
The Fundraising & Database Administrator will provide critical support to overall fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Administrator will work with a small development and communications team and with the APTA staff on various initiatives. The Administrator will oversee the FPTR's hosted Raiser's Edge database, work with individuals handling gift entry and the acknowledgement process, produce donor and gift reports, create lists for mailings and e-mail appeals, and provide analysis of data via Raiser's Edge, NXT. The Administrator will take the lead on special projects to meet the Foundation's strategic plan objectives.
Responsibilities
- Create dashboards and reports on key performance metrics/indicators to evaluate performance and inform strategy.
- Generate reports and assists with prospect pipeline to support team's efforts. Conducts proactive prospect research and creates donor profiles.
- Organizes annual Wealth screenings and helps fundraising staff implement appropriate tracking results.
- Liaison to the Finance department to ensure all transactions are accurately reflected in Raiser's Edge/Financial Edge.
- Generates queries/report/exports for donor mailings, recognition and appeal/campaign analysis.
- Ensure gifts and pledges are accurate, recorded and processed to reflect the donor's intentions and aligns with appropriate categorizations for appeals and funds.
- Provides training and guidance for all staff performing data entry or working in the database and on all platforms related to donations.
- Works on special projects including data integration between APTA and the FPTR.
- Ensures pledge reminder process and recurring gift renewals are completed.
- Facilitates the state registration filings with legal counsel and the CEO.
