Our goal is to provide results that can be translated into diagnostics, treatments or therapies that reduce global health burdens.

The Institute is located near Cambridge, UK on the stunning Wellcome Genome Campus. This growing and dynamic site is the British hub of genomic science. It hosts the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), Open Targets, a Biodata Innovation Centre and host Genomics England Limited’s 100,000 Genomes Sequencing Centre. The Campus is also home to Wellcome Genome Campus Connecting Science. Connecting Science inspires new thinking, sparks conversation and supports learning by drawing on the ground-breaking research taking place on the Campus. Its mission is to enable everyone to explore genomic science and its impact on research, health and society. C++ experts for cryptocurrency projects -- all time zones at Core Data () (allows remote)

Core Data has an opening for four (4) experienced senior-level C++ programmers to add to our EU-based remote work team. Developers in this team will focus on writing logic for various backend components related to the cryptocurrency realm. Core Data uses a 24/7 development model where projects are actively worked on in shifts in a continuous cycle, and thus positions are available for qualified applicants in all time zones. Candidates selected for this position will work under a full-time independent contractor relationship with our EU-based division. Examples of product lines which applicants may work on include: a from-scratch cryptocurrency exchange, a cryptocurrency mining pool, and creation of an entirely new cryptocurrency which provides new features not currently satisfied by existing tokens.

For this position, emphasis is placed on the applicant's ability to produce solutions with minimal outside help. As this is a senior-level position, all applicants are expected to be able to write the required applications from start to finish, including design of any database queries or tables. Design specifications will be provided for each project prior to commencement. While actual programming ability is one of the key requirements of this position, applicants for this senior-level posting are expected to show initiative and take a practical approach towards solving real-world problems.

Examples of technologies we commonly use:

  • C++14

  • MongoDB

  • ZeroMQ and RabbitMQ

  • NodeJS

  • Boost

  • WebSockets

Applicants with work experience in one or more of the following areas will be given priority:

  • Any type of programming work on cryptocurrencies or blockchain

  • Network programming (TCP and/or UDP)

  • Low latency messaging systems

  • Messaging queues

  • Creation of an interpreted or scripting language

  • Experience with MongoDB (time-series data experience a plus)

As a pre-screening question, please explain in your cover letter / email what the 'virtual' keyword does in C++ and what the difference would be if a class function/method is declared with and without it. Messages that omit this may be removed from consideration.  This is done so that we can focus on applicants who have taken the time to provide a well-thought response to our icebreaker question.

At Mux

About us:
Mux is building the future of online video infrastructure. Our first product was analytics and performance monitoring - think “NewRelic for Video” - used by major video streaming companies like PBS, Vimeo, and the New York Times to monitor and improve billions of streams. We just announced Mux Video, a simple API to video hosting, encoding and streaming - think "Stripe for Video" - which uses our performance data, machine learning, and just-in-time encoding for unmatched video quality and efficiency. POST a video in; GET a video out that plays anywhere and is deeply optimized for the target device and user. Then get creative with features like audio transcription and face detection. We think building with video should be fun, not complicated.

The Role:

We’re looking for video engineers to work on the transcoding and delivery pipeline for our video API. You’ll work in C, C++, and Go to help build a greenfield system that will change the way people publish video online, including features such as just-in-time encoding, content aware encoding, quality rendition strategies using machine learning, face detection, audio transcription, and more.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • You want to make online video infrastructure better.

  • You are an excellent C/C++ engineer. Go experience a plus.

  • You know video. You can parse MP4s, hack ffmpeg, and tune it to run at huge scale in the cloud.

  • You understand video publishing. While you’re comfortable deep in the weeds of video compression, you understand what customers care about and why.

  • You want to solve problems creatively and not just copy what everyone else is already doing

You Will:

Be joining an amazing team from places like Google/YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, Brightcove, and Bain. Our founders previously started (and sold) Zencoder, an early leader in cloud video technology. We also authored Video.js, the biggest HTML5 video player on the web. We were named one of the best Y Combinator startups of 2016, and we recently raised a Series A from Accel, joining existing investors SV Angel, Lowercase, the founders of Heroku, Parse, and others.

What We Can Offer:

  • Supportive culture that cares about both excellent work and work-life balance

  • Salary + equity with perks like a 10-year exercise window

  • Competitive health, dental, and vision insurance (99% employee and 50% dependent premium coverage)

  • Commuter benefits

  • 401(k)

  • Cell phone service and device reimbursements

  • Catered lunches, snacks, and good coffee

  • Paid parental leave

  • Flex PTO policy

  • Long-term disability insurance

  • Investment in career growth and training

Mux is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status or disability status.
