Your mission is to make sending, spending, and receiving money in the region convenient, instant, and close to free – as well as finding ways to reach the potential customers we’re not yet helping.Integrate with local payment rails and work side by side with regional partners to connect Wise and their systems. Optimise operations and extend our platform for new use cases. Model and implement changes to our payment processing scaling it to handle 10x the current volume.

ABOUT THE JOB:
As an Android Engineer at Guidebook, youll work alongside product and other cross-functional counterparts including designers, QA, web front end, back end, and iOS engineers to make improvements to our mobile app. As the sole contributor to our Android app, you'll work closely with your manager to complete projects and steer the direction of the android codebase.
If you will be working remote, it is important that you are online and available during standard business hours (9AM - 5PM PST) for our California based engineering and product teams.
You will report into our Engineering Manager Dylan Foster and become a part of a tightly knit mobile team, composed of you and a small iOS team. This role is ideal for an engineer who wants to utilize strong technical experience to affect the teams success by developing a deep understanding of the codebase and making daily commits while also being an important technical partner to their manager. Our software engineers feel huge ownership over their work and our ideal candidate should be excited to step into a small, agile team to work on meaningful projects that tangibly impact company success. About you
You'll work as part of a full-stack agile development team to design and implement web applications at the leading edge of digital lending. You will innovate, adapt, and build lasting and scalable solutions from scratch.
What you will do
Steer the design and implementation of large features for our API endpoints and
customer-facing web applications
Identify requirements gaps and negotiate scope with stakeholders
Write automated tests and ensure comprehensive test coverage
Assist with verifying the features you developed are working successfully in production.
We do multiple daily releases whenever features are ready.
Review and provide feedback on pull requests from your peers.
Become the subject matter expert for several areas of our applications
Guide other engineers to the right solutions
Skills and experience youll need
Minimum of 5 years of experience developing web applications
At least 3 years of Ruby on Rails experience
Experience with concurrent, service-oriented, and object-oriented programming
Building and consuming RESTful APIs
Ability to independently identify solutions to problems
Ability to troubleshoot issues in code with no prior context
Ability to write SQL queries for troubleshooting and feature acceptance
Bonus points if you have
Experience working in Financial Services industry
Experience working in a nimble and agile environment
Worked with a TDD workflow
