TypeScript Backend Engineer at Tessian (London, UK)

TypeScript Engineering at Tessian Read more about Engineering at Tessian: https://stackoverflow.com/jobs/companies/tessian Our TypeScript team are building a scalable infrastructure for processing email traffic in real-time. You'll be a software engineer with a strong interest in developing backend services in TypeScript, looking to start a fresh challenge in 2019. Our stack includes core TypeScript, Node.js, Docker, AWS/Azure, and Postgres, amongst others and you'll be helping to build a new generation of dependable AI-based enterprise security. Unlike most TypeScript roles we're using this technology to execute some pretty low-level concepts and we're drilling down to fundamentals. This isn't an Express app or a full-stack web role; we're building a core, high-performance backend to support Tessian's cybersecurity platform. You'll make a big impact in a small team, with opportunities to drive our future technology, mentor other developers and solve business-critical issues. You'll be a great thinker and have the ability to plan, question, suggest and explain - skills we value as highly as your ability to write solid, dependable code. As part of our team, you'll be collaborating with our Data Scientists who are building new machine learning threat models, architecting our application to scale with our growing client base, diagnosing critical issues and contributing to planning and architecture discussions. We believe in regular and continuous development and seek to create opportunities for all team members. We have regular cross-discipline tech talks and we encourage multi-disciplinary development. Dealing with massive datasets at scale requires ingenuity and strong analytical skills, and we build quickly, following both agile and continuous delivery paradigms. You'll have a degree of autonomy to work on your various projects, and be a part of our regular round tables to bounce ideas around. We believe in continuous career development and will look to create opportunities for you to evolve both personally and professionally.

We'd love to meet someone who

Platform Engineer at Tessian (London, UK)

The Platform Team at Tessian We're looking for experienced DevOps engineers to join us on our predominantly cloud centric infrastructure. You should be experienced with (and excited by!) ideas like infrastructure as code and "cattle not pets", and be prepared to design, develop and support the various offerings of our system. Because of the sensitive nature of our work flexibility is a must. We deploy to AWS today, but may want to extend to other cloud offerings in the future. We are extensively using Docker to manage our application code, so this role gives a chance to build on modern software deployment techniques, and we use a range of cloud services to orchestrate, secure and manage our application stack. You'll be investigating and proposing microservices architectures and coming up with new ways to deploy and scale Tessian's platform. You’ll be growing your skill-set on an ongoing basis; regular and continuous development is something we believe in and as an employee we will seek to create opportunities for you to evolve. Our agnostic approach to problem solving means we favour hiring engineers who pride themselves on the ability to learn new skills, their comfort with the unknown and their willingness to experiment. This role may involve, at times, client side visits. Some of the technologies we’re working with include Node.jsC#PythonPostgresMongoDBSpark, and our current cloud stack revolves around AWS, Docker (on ECS), Ansible and Terraform.

We'd love to meet someone who

    • Is a great problem solver who takes pride in their work

    • Enjoys building scalable and resilient systems

    • Has strong experience managing a range of production applications in a distributed and highly available cloud services environment (AWS preferable)

    • Has experience with containerization (Docker) and high level container orchestration systems (e.g. ECS/Kubernetes/Swarm)

    • Has experience with automation and configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Terraform, and Puppet)

    • Has a deep understanding of server/network security concepts and implementations

    • Has created and worked with microservice infrastructures

    • Ideally has some programming knowledge, preferably Python, Node.js, Javascript, or Go

    • Ideally has some experience deploying solutions to enterprise clients

Why we think you'll love it here

Integrations Product Manager at Tessian (London, UK)

Product at Tessian Having found exceptional product/market fit for our category-defining Human Layer Security software platform, we’re in the midst of transitioning from 'start-up' to ‘scale-up’, and are looking for a Product Manager to lead our Email Integrations.  This person will lead our email integrations teams from a product perspective, specifically working on our cloud based mail server integration, the Tessian Gateway, and our client-side integration, the Tessian Outlook Add-in.  The reality of the Product Manager role can vary significantly from company to company, especially in Europe where the discipline is still relatively immature. We spend a lot of time at Tessian thinking about what great Product Management should be and are committed to investing in helping both experienced PMs and newcomers develop in the role over time. Product Managers at Tessian are not ‘Project Managers’ tasked with delivering a roadmap dictated by someone else. They are also not ‘mini-CEOs’ who make all the decisions and tell everyone else what to do. Product Managers at Tessian help empower engineering teams to build amazing products for our customers. They do this by setting a vision for the product, guiding team discussions to focus on impact, and helping teams intimately understand our customers problems. We are still early on in our journey, so there are plenty of opportunities to help define how we think about product here, the processes we create, how we measure ourselves and the impact we have. We’re looking for someone with experience scaling and shipping products at high-growth technology companies. Experience with client-side or mail server products is an added bonus.

As a Product Manager you will

    • Empower engineering teams to launch impactful products

    • Communicate successfully across the company to not only get buy in from the relevant stakeholders but also to generate excitement around what we’re building and our mission

    • Help engineering teams to intimately understand our customers and their problems
