About the Syapse Engineering Team

The Syapse software engineering team is built upon small, agile teams that own product areas end to end. Our scrum teams design and deliver their components independently, using short, iterative sprints. Our domain-based communities of practice (e.g. Data Semantics, Web Technology, Tooling & Infrastructure) deal with cross cutting concerns and foster collaboration across teams. We scale our data platform using a microservice architecture, stream processing, and other distributed systems approaches.

We are building a data platform that is helping to usher in the precision medicine era. Our applications enable oncologists to deliver consistent, evidence-based precision oncology care, and empower hospital administrators to implement precision oncology programs at scale. The Syapse Network enables collaboration between health systems through data sharing across our customers. Through this, we’ll achieve our mission to enable healthcare providers to deliver the best care to every cancer patient through precision medicine.

We have a team of engineers, product managers, and product designers working on building our product. We’re continually shipping new features and refining our designs to give our customers the best possible experience.

You love to get things done through collaboration with other engineers on the team. You have worked building backend (micro)services in the cloud previously, and you are excited about joining us early in our journey to an advanced microservices architecture.

  • Quality focus -- not: cutting corners

  • Pairing, swarming, and mobbing -- not: individual assignments

  • Alternating focus time and collaboration time -- not: everyone heads down all day

  • Swarming to solve blockers as a team -- not: struggle as individuals

What You Will Do

  • Act as the technical leader in a team of backend engineers.

  • Architect, design, develop, deploy, and operate services that serve our users.

  • Drive good engineering practises within your team and define and teach these practices within the larger engineering community at the company.

  • Mentor other engineers through hands-on collaboration.

  • Contribute to the vision and long-term strategy in your team’s domain.

  • At least five years of professional software engineering experience.

  • You have used AWS, Heroku, or other cloud-based hosts at previous jobs.
