SafetyCulture is the Australian tech start-up disrupting the safety and quality industry globally. We build SaaS products that help our customers create safer, higher quality and more efficient workplaces. Our flagship product iAuditor is the market leading safety check app in the world with over 1 million inspections performed every month. That is what we are currently known for but not all that we are working on.


We are a multi revenue stream business building out our ecosystem of products for both quality and safety. We are using machine learning, predictive analysis, artificial intelligence and IoT in our current projects to ensure we continue to offer our customers (e.g. aviation, construction, retail, hospitality, facilities management) products that saves them time, empowers a safer workplace and are so simple to use. We received our Series C funding in May 2018 ($100M total), 5 x’d the size of the team over two years to 310 staff globally which includes 80 Engineers - all in Australia. We are looking for a VP of Engineering to join our mission driven team to help us transition from a start-up to a scale-up business. We have solved a lot of challenges including how to best organise our teams (cross-functional), our tech stack (AWS, microservices, Golang, React, C++ for mobile) and people development (programs to ensure our Engineers are doing the best work of their career) but there are plenty more that we need your help with!



The Challenges




  • Energise, stimulate, unlock velocity and awaken innovation in our engineering team

  • Be a leader that all of our (incredibly smart and passionate) Engineers look up to and respect as you are passionate about our mission and ability to deliver

  • Ability to lead leaders 1:1 but also impact the greater engineering team - you will lead 4 Tribe Engineering Leads who all have 3+ Engineering Leads report into them

  • Figure out how to best scale the team, adding more leaders and engineers

  • Communicate your vision not only to the engineering team but the entire business and bring everyone on that journey with you

  • Ensure the team are all aligned on strategy, goals and how they can make an impact



Your Background




  • You will have worked for a SaaS business and led a team that has built really successful products

  • Have successfully pulled a group of leaders/engineers together, set a tech strategy and let those leaders execute with their teams

  • Have successfully communicated a vision

  • Have experience operating in a senior leadership team

  • Experience managing at a board level

  • Ideally you have seen scale - you are joining a team of 80 but we need you to successfully lead an engineering team of 120 in a year from now

  • Are so passionate about building products as well as leading the people who build them

  • You will have demonstrated the ability to work effectively with other leaders - across product, design and a leadership team

  • Are confident in your ability to be the most senior person for engineering in the business and be the tech representative on the leadership team

  • Set expectations, deliver on them and have self awareness to know when you need to ask for help
