Skills Required :

1. Extensive hands-on experience with Swift, collections, algorithms and well- known application frameworks.

2. Strong understanding of interactive application development paradigm under iOS, memory management, file I/O, network programming, concurrency and multithreading.

3. Experience with iOS-specific application development and publishing iOS apps in the App store.

4. Experience in writing unit tests, testable code and well-known mobile application development platforms like Firebase, Fabric, Fastlane, Realm, Jenkins, Git, React Native knowledge

5. Excellent understanding of the full mobile development life cycle with a good understanding of design patterns.

6. Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies.

7. Experience in working with third-party libraries and APIs.

8. A strong and innovative approach to problem-solving and finding solutions.
9. Flexible and proactive/ self-motivated working style with strong personal ownership of problem resolution.

10. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal, formal and informal).

11. High accountability with a minimum of 2 year experience in the field.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Work asynchronously on multiple apps at the same time.

2. Development, release and maintenance of native iOS Applications, and oversee mobile application development efforts.

3. Deliver across the entire app life cycle - design, build, deploy, test, release, scale to app stores and support

4. Work directly with developers and product managers to conceptualize, build, test and realize products

5. Work on bug fixing and improving application performance.

6. Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency

7. Optimize performance for apps and keep up to date on the latest industry trends in the mobile technologies

8. Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.

  • Respond to development and maintenance requests via a task tracking system, and participate in daily team scrum meetings

  • Participate in peer code review and QA processes

  • Contribute to quality assurance by improving maintainability and testability of existing codebase by developing additional automated test components

  • Deliver reliable software releases as part of a whole-team release process


We’d like you to have:


At least 2+ years of experience with the following skills:



  • Dynamic languages (especially PHP; Golang highly regarded)

  • WWW technologies (HTML5, CSS, and Javascript. Jquery highly regarded)

  • Relational databases

  • Able to work in a self-directed fashion while also contributing to team goals and harmony

  • Strong analytical skills with a mindset that questions assumptions; with a willingness to continuously help improve processes and procedures

  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal

Cloud Engineer - AWS or Google Cloud, Linux Administration at PSMA Australia Limited (Canberra, Australia)

PSMA Australia is a recognized leader in the development and delivery of high-value, high-quality geospatial data. Our data products and services enable both the government and industry to deliver increasingly sophisticated location-based solutions. Consequently, the organisation plays a vital role in Australia’s digital economy generally and the spatial information sector specifically.


The Cloud Engineer works within PSMA’s Infrastructure Squad. Their primary short term goal will be working with their Infrastructure Squad colleagues to migrate PSMA systems from a private cloud provider into AWS, re-architecting systems where possible and necessary. Their longer term goals will revolve around working with their Squad to ensure the stability, integrity, security and efficient operation of PSMA’s systems and databases.


The Infrastructure Squad provides strategic IT leadership and enterprise solutions to ensure PSMA has the IT capability to fulfill its mission statement.


Mentoring and providing technical guidance to support the development of colleagues is an ongoing requirement in this position.


Key responsibilities will include:



  • Migration of systems from PSMA’s private cloud provider into AWS,

  • Leadership in the creation of patterns and standards, in consultation with client squads and subject matter experts,

  • Continuous improvement of PSMA’s operational system deployment,

  • Providing quality technical advice and support, training, and technical documentation to PSMA staff and vendors.

  • Identifying issues, risks, and mitigation measures for IT systems and ensuring they are reported and understood by teammates and PSMA leadership, and

  • Occasional ‘out of hours’ support.

Functional Skills



  • 5+ years of experience in Linux Administration,

  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platform, with a preference for AWS,

  • 2+ years of database development and administration experience, with a preference for PostgreSQL/PostGIS,

  • Excellent oral and written English language skills, and

  • Experience working in an Agile environment.


Desirable Skills


Experience with:



  • Barman Postgres backup system – Highly regarded

  • Automation using Puppet

  • Backup systems (Commvault, Veeam, CPM)

  • Programming with a preference for Python

  • Docker

  • Infrastructure Automation (Terraform/CloudFormation)

  • Networking components Switching/Routing

  • Continuous Integration tools like BitBucket and ConcourseCI

  • Atlassian suite of products (Jira/Confluence/Bitbucket), and

  • Understanding of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery principals.


Interpersonal Skills



  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment,

  • Commitment to collaborating across the organisation to improve processes relevant to the successful operation of the company, and

  • Role model behaviours that support PSMA Values at all times.
