We help our students learn new skills, gain valuable industry certifications, and excel in their careers.

It’s an exciting time at A Cloud Guru: we recently eclipsed 600,000 B2C customers; raised an additional $2M of funding in May; and are now focused on building out our B2B feature set and product offering. We have ambitious goals for our business and we're looking for a Software Development Lead to join our team to build an additional Student Experience team at A Cloud Guru.

Your role will include everything from helping to build an awesome team by assisting during the recruitment process, through to writing code, through to working with other teams in the business (product, support and more) on non-technical aspects of delivery. You'll work closely with product managers to organise sprints so you need to be comfortable delegating and assigning tasks to team members. Most importantly, you'll help your team navigate the ups and downs of startup life and celebrate wins along the way.

From the get go, you'll need to be technical proficient at:

  • Developing single page applications (ReactJS is preferable)

You're also a creative and open-minded person that really loves what they do and takes pride in their work supporting the team. Being able to collaborate with others on projects is as important to us as your ability to write code.

We would love if you have experience with Serverless applications and AWS (this would be phenomenal), but it’s not essential.

You just need to have a passion for learning and be open to becoming acquainted with:

  • CloudFormation, AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB and DynamoDB Streams

  • The Serverless Framework

  • Microservices with AWS Lambda

  • GraphQL

  • SQL and AWS Redshift

  • Firebase

Working with us

We understand that time away from work is important and we know well-rested and well-rounded people make better decisions and are happier at work! We pay commensurate with experience and we make sure you’re looked after.

Our crew

Our team is spread across the globe - mainly the US and Australia. Our engineers and designers work together out of our office in Melbourne, Australia.

For this position we will need you to join our team in our offices on Queen Street, Melbourne. We prefer hands on collaboration so this position is not available for remote workers. Unfortunately we're unable to sponsor people into Australia at this time.

We believe homeownership is valuable. Here’s why: Not only has homeownership historically been one of the most reliable ways to build wealth, it also strengthens ties to community and contributes positively to overall well-being. The way the mortgage industry operates today makes it harder and harder for people to consider homeownership -- so we set out to change that. The traditional mortgage process is designed to confuse, riddled with unnecessary fees, takes too much time, and is built on a foundation of misaligned incentive structures. It’s time Americans had a Better option.

A Better option is one that puts customers in control of the largest financial transaction of their lives. It’s built with best-in-class technology, supported by non-commissioned staff, and offers affordable financing options that meet customers where they are.

Since 2016, we’ve already funded over $1B in loans, raised $75M in capital, and won the NerdWallet Best Online Mortgage Lender for Customer Service and we’re just getting started.

Trying to modernize a decades old industry isn’t easy, but it is supremely rewarding. Become part of a Better team.

Software Engineer at Better (New York, NY)

A Better company

 A Better opportunity

Help us hack a thirteen trillion dollar industry by building a product that will allow more people than the status quo to own a home and build wealth rather than rent for life. Our tech team is small, and you will be a big part of defining the technical direction and culture. We encourage proposals for projects off the beaten path, experimentation with different frameworks and libraries, and doing as you see fit to solve problems.

We also offer above-market compensation and equity, as well as full benefits. Part-time remote is great with us, although we are looking for candidate who can spend some significant fraction of your time at our office in Soho, NYC.

  • Build a way to match borrowers to programs to calculate and surface eligible discounts to them

  • Work on our Kubernetes cluster that helps us deploy 50-100 times/day with no downtime
