Software Architect
For our office in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, PixelPool is looking for a Software Architect to be part of a new development team and help us bring our 3D interactive experiences to the next level and transform our unique skills and market insights into a technically sound, scalable SaaS-product.
Role description & responsibilities
The Software Architect provides the technical know-how and support throughout the entire project, from design sprints, beta-testing, initial release and subsequent updates and support. As an important member of the development team, the architect makes high level decisions on what technologies to use and designs the architecture of the system.
Furthermore, the architect establishes and enforces coding and documentation standards and provides guidance and mentoring to the other developer(s) in the development team. Some of the aspects the architect might be working on include:
- Decide on system architecture with knowledge of design patterns
- High level decision making on platform(s), technologies and frameworks to use
- Data modelling and database design, content management
- Data processing and streaming, security and scalability
Desired Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience designing software architecture for distributed applications that shipped using a SaaS model;
- Experience and affinity with Web-based 3D rendering (WebGL, three.js, etc.)
- Experience with developing service level agreements and support models
- Fluent in Bulgarian and English in speech and writing
- Willing to spend ±3 weeks at our headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands, before being stationed in our Sofia office

UX/UI Designer
For our office in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, PixelPool is looking for a UX/UI Designer to be part of a new development team and help us bring our 3D interactive experiences to the next level and transform our unique skills and market insights into a technically sound, scalable SaaS-product.
Role description & responsibilities
The UX/UI designer is responsible for guarding the general user experience and designing the visual feel of the system.
Working in a team alongside developers and a software architect, the UX/UI designer ensures that the functionality being developed is a joy to use and look at. The UX/UI designer translates the product backlog into a pleasant user journey in which all features are integrated in an elegant way.
The designer has a well-developed sense for aesthetics and visual quality, is comfortable with a wide range of visual styles and tastes and has all the necessary skills to transform their ideas into mockups, prototypes and finally, actual working UI.
Desired Skills and Experience
- At least three years of experience designing UX and UI for 2D and 3D applications
- Strong visual sense and able to quickly visualize ideas and facilitate discussions using hand sketches
- Strong skill and knowledge of mock-up, wireframe and prototyping tools, as well as Adobe CS, knowing the appropriate tool to use in every situation
- Together with developers, able to transform ideas into working user interfaces
- Fluent in Bulgarian and English in speech and writing
- Willing to spend ±3 weeks at our headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands, before being stationed in our Sofia office

Software Developer (Unity/Web)
For our office in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, PixelPool is looking for a Software Developer to be part of a new development team and help us bring our 3D interactive experiences to the next level and transform our unique skills and market insights into a technically sound, scalable SaaS-product.
Role description & responsibilities
The Software Developer is at the heart of development, building out the system with efficient and well documented features and fixing bugs as soon as they arise. Working alongside other developers, designers and a Software Architect, you will work on an ambitious, 3D focused project for the web that will challenge your coding skills.
The project’s functionalities will rely on manipulating high quality 3D content and 3D centered interactions that will run on the web and desktop. You will be working with 3D assets that are produced in-house by a large team of world class artists, focusing on building user interactions, monitoring performance, ensuring reliability and working with cloud-stored client data.
Desired Skills and Experience
- At least three years of development experience of 3D-heavy software or games using Unity 3D and C#
- Experience and affinity with development of distributed, web-based apps that use 3D content and rendering (WebGL, three.js, etc.)
- Comfortable playing a pioneering role as part of a small new development team within an existing company
- Fluent in Bulgarian and English in speech and writing
- Willing to spend ±3 weeks at our headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands, before being stationed in our Sofia office
