Responsibilities



  • Build and improve security focused tooling for the Elastic Cloud product and infrastructure

  • Architect and maintain a SIEM infrastructure

  • Be a part of a Security Incident Response Team

  • Work closely with the SRE and Development team as well as third party auditors to ensure a smooth road to security compliance and alignment to regulations (SOC2, GDPR etc)

  • Demonstrate and promote Security best practices


Experience (in 2+ areas)



  • You performed automated and manual testing against a large codebase. You identify and exploit an SQL injection vulnerability without using sqlmap.

  • Kali Linux for PenTest, Burp or OWASP for security testing.

  • Ability to exploit XSS in something more meaningful than a PoC alert

  • Deploy perimeter scanners against a large network, with knowledge of Snort, Nessus and Bro.

  • Linux Systems / Containers Security: Hardened a VM with SELinux / AppArmor, tweaked cgroups, created Seccomp profiles.

  • Profile an application to get the minimum syscall / kernel capabilities gamut required for it to run.

  • Experience with SOC2, PCI, and HIPAA.

  • Experience working in a Security Operations Center.

  • Consistently dealing with security incidents that required quick mitigation and extensive root cause analysis.

  • Authentication and Authorization protocols such as OIDC, OAuth and SAML. Deploying large scale LDAP / Kerberos

  • Familiar with security principles for Software Engineering. Can you help developers build security in throughout the Software Development Process?

Who are we looking for?


To reach our goals, we are looking for an experienced security engineer. In this role you will be working from the operational to the strategic level on tasks that cover the full spectrum of information security, including web, application systems and network security.


You have at least 5 years of experience with information security and a technical bachelor degree or higher.




What will you be doing?


To keep our products at the frontier of innovation, your responsibilities will include:




  • Work with the product and engineering teams to define needs, identify problems, evaluating potential solutions, demonstrating and implementing improvements




  • Implement security best practices through the software development life cycle



  • Write / review security control procedures and recommend changes to management

  • Accountable for responses and actions based on internal and external security audit findings

  • Code review and security auditing of our applications

Our stack and tools


Our applications are built in PHP 7 and backed by a multi-server, multi-tenant MySQL database setup. We use Zend Framework as the basis for our applications and Doctrine 2 as our ORM. For the frontend we are currently using Sencha’s ExtJS, but we are migrating towards React. Our production environments are managed by third parties, but we manage a wide range of servers ourselves as well. Quarterly external security audits are performed on the application level.


Our toolset includes Slack, JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence and Google for Business. We use Jenkins as a continuous integration server.

Our SumUp office in Cologne is hiring for the position of Frontend Engineer.


In this role, you'll work with a small cross-functional team to build tools that help hundreds of thousands of small businesses thrive. Many cool features are in the pipeline surrounding Point of Sale, product catalogue, and more.

  • Our website, built with React and Next.js and modern tooling. Today we enable our marketing, business development, and communications teams to build custom pages with React components. Tomorrow we are building more tools to improve editor productivity, handle our expanding product offering, and educate merchants on growing their business.

  • Our design system and component library, built in React, using Emotion for css-in-js. These components can be used in all our different web applications. We use Storybook as a component workbench and Gatsby to generate public-facing documentation.

  • And many more, like our SumUp for Developers tools, ecom gateway, open source integrations, internal applications, and greenfield projects. We also do CI with Docker and Jenkins, and have many more plans for how to leverage containers for our apps.

Requirements



  • 2+ years prior professional experience

  • Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS, and experience with React

  • Solid understanding of Javascript

  • Experience building a non-trivial Single Page Application (SPA)

  • Linux basics (git, ssh, editing a file on a remote server, etc.)

  • Experience with data / content modeling and thinking in a reusable, component-oriented way

  • Experience implementing accessible and responsive designs according to pixel-precise design specs
