The role will allow you to work on a modern, PHP7/Laravel/Vue web application, and have ownership of technical decisions and implementation details to drive the platform forwards.

You will be maintaining and extending the existing application, and will be working closely with the product owner to ensure the business needs are met. While the work will mostly be on the technical side of things, you will also be designing and implementing UX solutions for new and existing needs on the application.

As well as having strong technical skills, you are ideally a self-starter with a passion for all things environmental, and involvement in the direction and thought behind the business is an area that this role would be expected to grow into. You will be supported internally by the business team, but this role will be the first of our primarily technical hires, with more to follow.

Finally, the candidate will later have a role in mentoring and supporting an in-house development team, which will grow as the business requires.

Our growing technology company seeks an experienced Web & Systems Administrator professional to join our elite team of dedicated individuals.  We are looking for a highly motivated, self-directed individual to fill the role of a WordPress Web Server Administrator which would also assist with other operations and maintenance tasks for the IT, Marketing, and Professional Services teams. The ideal candidate is highly detail oriented and organized, a motivated self-starter with excellent communication and facilitation skills, can work effectively with a wide range of personalities, takes responsibility for the uptime of critical infrastructure, and is comfortable in a highly technical environment where troubleshooting complex issues is a regular occurrence.


This position is located in our DC headquarters.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 



  • Ownership – You'll manage and own the infrastructure for a high-volume WordPress and website, from taking care of all regular tasks and systems review/configurations, to working closely with the Marketing Team for larger projects related to speed, redundancy, and growing a website infrastructure to meet the needs of our rapidly growing company

  • Solutions – Identifying issues, bottlenecks, or needs within our WP environment, and then planning and implementing solutions to address the problems quickly and efficiently. For example, bringing together people from multiple teams to fix a WordPress/Salesforce integration issue whether for performance improvements or emergency situations

  • Administration – of marketing website infrastructure and web servers/environments for marketing, professional services, and IT:

    • Assists the technical lead in the design and implementation of web server and other virtual infrastructure

    • Create and maintain detailed documentation

    • Proactively monitors application, system software and/or virtual hardware and take corrective action to prevent outages or failures

    • Monitor, schedule, and perform system patches and upgrades



  • Facilitator – Assist departments with deploying virtual systems and other web infrastructure needs


REQUIREMENTS 



  • 4+ years of applicable experience in a systems administrator, web developer, or similar role

  • 4+ years of experience with infrastructure for Content Management Systems, specifically WordPress

  • Associate (2-year) or Bachelor (4-year) degree preferred in IT or similar field

  • Proficient in web technologies including Apache, MySQL, and LAMP stacks

  • Excellent knowledge of static content offloading, caching, and CDNs

  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g. Uptrends, CloudWatch, New Relic, Site24x7, etc.)

  • Experience with logging tools (e.g. Splunk, Apache log files, syslogs, etc.)

  • Hands-on OS/software/web server troubleshooting

  • Understanding different backup and disaster recovery approaches for WordPress systems, especially in multi-node systems built for worldwide speed and availability.

  • Familiar with integrations between WordPress and third-party apps

  • Experience with AWS Services

  • Excellent facilitator with the ability to act as an emergency response task force lead

  • (Bonus) Version control (e.g. Git, etc.) and automated deployment tools (e.g. Jenkins, Visual Studio, CodeDeploy, TeamCity, Bamboo, etc.)
