Our clients include Charities such as Wikimedia and Farm Africa, art galleries such as the Photographers Gallery and Craft Central but also companies, trade associations and government bodies. We mainly work on the Drupal platform, but someone with a wide range of interests would be favourable.

– Love creating awesome documentation!

What were looking for is someone who can grasp concepts quickly, has great attention to detail, and most importantly loves a tech challenge. In short, we’re a team of self confessed geeks who love tinkering and tweaking until something is just right and are looking for someone who thinks and acts like us.

Location

At Compucorp we are a distributed team and we welcome people to join us from all around the world, however as a UK based Company some overlap with UK hours will be required. By default you should assume that your working hours would be +/- 3h max from GMT start times of 9.00AM UK start time. There is some flexibility in this but please be aware that staff members starting outside of these hours are rare and as such if you would expect these hours to be an issue for you then we would not suggest that you apply.

For the Devops role, due to EU data protection requirements, the team member must be from either an EEA country or a country that the EU considers to have adequate level of data protection. The list can be found at the link below:

  • You’ll be offered ample opportunity to consistently improve your skills and stay up-to-date with the latest technologies.

  • You’ll work with komoot’s entire backend team on the full system: You’ll constantly contribute to the big picture rather than just a subsystem

  • We believe good ideas count more than hierarchies.

  • You’ll work together with enthusiastic engineers, hikers and cyclists.

  • We let you work from wherever you want, be it a beach, the mountains, our headquarters in Potsdam or anywhere that lies between the time zones UTC-1 and UTC+3

You will be successful in this position if you

Sound like you?

Then send us the following:

  • Your CV

  • Why you are interested in working at komoot

  • Examples of your work (e.g. GitHub, PDFs, Slideshare, etc.)

Automotive Embedded Software Engineer at Dyson (Malmesbury, UK)

Description

This role sits within the Electronics team of our automotive function.

Market Overview

Malmesbury is tucked away in countryside famous for the landmarks of Isambard Brunel, who revolutionised modern engineering. A charming Wiltshire market town doesn’t sound like the place to develop world leading technology, but it’s just right for us. Our secluded location helps us to protect our ideas and stay independent–minded.

As part of the £2.5 billion investment, Dyson acquired a 650 acre plot in Hullavington. This former Royal Air Force base, just five miles from Dyson HQ, will increase our UK footprint tenfold. We’ll be turning old hangars into futuristic labs and workspaces – creating a campus to rival those in Silicon Valley.

Function Overview

We’ve begun work on a battery electric vehicle – that’s no secret. It has remained our ambition to solve the worldwide problem of air pollution for nearly 30 years. Now that we have the ability to bring all our technologies together into a single product, we’re able to solve this problem at the source. For now, it’s all about finding the right people to make it all happen for 2020.

Accountabilities

As a software engineer you will be responsible for working on all areas of the vehicle and at any operating level.  You will be involved in designing software, patching and debugging, working within an Autosar environment. We are seeking software engineers at ALL levels but all will require hands-on technical work. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop real time embedded software for a range of complex real time electronics systems.

  • Develop Device Drivers on a range of silicon platforms.

  • Analysis of high level requirements into efficient algorithms.

  • Control system design and simulation of control algorithms using high level modelling tools

  • Fast prototyping of complex ideas onto an embedded platform in C programming language.

  • Experience with auto generated code and its integration (e.g. Mathlab/Simulink/RTW, Dspace, SCADE etc..)

  • Develop digital communication interfaces and drivers, for instance Ethernet.

  • Debug real time software issues using a range of techniques and tools.

  • Integration of software with hardware and mechanics.

  • Start-up mentality, dynamic, independent

  • Ability to take projects from concept to high volume production.

  • Ability to work with suppliers.

  • Support technical gate reviews

Skills

Previous embedded software experience in any safety critical industry.

Degree in software engineering.

Experience of working to Autosar, MISRA C protocols / standards.

Programming at any operating level.  Note this is not a validation role; you will be expected to write and validate code.

Experience of CAN and software integration would be useful.

Benefits Overview

Dyson monitors the market to ensure competitive salaries and pension contributions. Beyond that, you’ll also enjoy a profit-related bonus, generous leave and life insurance. But financial benefits are only the start of a Dyson career. Rapid professional growth, leadership development and new opportunities abound, driven by regular reviews and dynamic workshops. And with a vibrant culture, flexible working hours, the latest devices and a relaxed dress code reflecting our engineering spirit, it’s an exciting team environment geared to creativity, innovation and ambition.

Full-stack Developer (Django and AngularJS) - UCROO at Common Code (Abbotsford, Australia)

Wanna work with one of Melbourne's most exciting start-ups?

Recently launching in the USA market to great success, this Melbourne born business is on the steady growth trajectory. Due to this, Ucroo is looking to grow its team with some skilled intermediate level front end, back end or full-stack developers.

Their current stack is primarily in Django with AngularJS on the front-end using PostgreSQL and hosted on AWS.

What you will be doing:

- Delivering efficient, quality Python/Django REST API endpoints
- Building unit tests on all of your endpoints
- Integrating user-facing elements with server-side logic
- Implementing security and data protection around your code
- Communicating with college IT staff

We understand that you may not have all these above-mentioned skills and will happily work with you to up-skill in these areas if required. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions on the details below.

Hang on, so who is this job with? Common Code or UCROO

Clients have consistently approached Common Code for assistance with finding, building and growing their technical teams. Recruitment consultants often had a non-technical background, which resulted in poorly vetted and low-matched candidates.

We observed that when it came to finding the best tech talent, the traditional “fee for placement” agency recruitment model was counterintuitive because it incentivised a placement, but not necessarily the right placement.

Our goal is to replace the outdated transactional recruitment model with one based on transparency, trust, and the right fit for both parties. So we started Unicorn Melbourne, a shared service of sorts working with our clients to build their own developer teams.

UENI - Senior Front-end Developer (new development center in Prague) at UENI (Praha 8, Czechia)

The UENI development team currently consists of 9 developers of varying experience. We are working on a tech stack of Kubernetes, Docker, MySQL, Python3 + Django, and React.

As we aim to provide online presence for "the long tail" of small and micro businesses, much of our work is very data driven. Many of the challenges on the dev team are around this large data set, providing internal tools to other teams to create, interact with, and manipulate this data. We are also delivering the end product to our clients, striving to provide the best digital presence we can which is cost effective and tech savvy on their side (aka automated whenever possible).

Developers are required to interact with the other teams to understand their needs and provide simple, reliable technological solutions. We are fast paced and still discovering what we can do well, and so no developer can expect to be handed simple instructions to implement in a bubble.

On the backend we are in a transition period as we move to a microservice architecture from our original monolith system. Wherever possible, we use a shared django template for these projects so we can start a new project fast and easily understand each other's code.

On the front end our main project is the ueni.com website, including pages for each business owner with a high focus on SEO and usability to give small businesses an easy but effective digital presence and allow new customers to find them. At the same time we provide extra functionality to the business owners to control and see performance stats for their pages. This is implemented in React, Redux and Node for server side rendering.

We will be happy if you have:

  • 3+ years of front-end development experience (JavaScript, AngularJS, ReactJS, KnockoutJS, JQuery, SPA, HTML5, CSS3/Less, JSON etc)

  • Minimum of 1 year using ReactJS

  • Solid experience of complex JavaScript

  • ES6

What you will do:

As a Front-end Developer, you would be primarily working on our main website ueni.com. The website provides business owners with facilities to register, onboard and edit their business information with minimal technological knowledge. At the same time, potential business customers have ability to view business information, and request bookings. The goal of the website is to provide easy to use facilities, and automate as much as possible for the customers (on both ends). The website utilizes React, Redux, ES6, REST APIs, and number other of technologies to provide a server side and client side rendering. We are constantly improving, refactoring and adding new features to our website to improve customer experiences.

We expect you to:

  • Work with our UX/UI designers and implement fast and responsive (mobile-friendly) pages based on the designs

  • Collaborate with backend developers to make sure the APIs serve your needs for a given feature

  • Work in a team, and collaborate on code style, implementation ideas, and pull requests (using Git).
