Job Overview


The Salesforce DevOps Engineer will play a key role in strategic ongoing development and enhancement projects, related to support of the Salesforce.com CRM platform. This role collaborates with functional leaders from various business units to identify, define, and implement changes and enhancements that meet business requirements in a dynamic environment.  This position will be part of the broader Shared Service IT Operations team responsible for analyzing, building, integrating, testing and deploying Salesforce.com solutions.


Responsibilities


The Salesforce DevOps Engineer will:



  • Be responsible for implementing the DevOps strategy for a large Salesforce installation including continuous delivery, optimization, monitoring, release management and support the end to end release process.

  • Work alongside Software Engineers to ensure all updates to the Salesforce platform seamlessly move from development through QA & staging sandboxes and into production for all Salesforce based applications.

  • Responsible for driving operational excellence by implementing strategies for continuous delivery of Salesforce and any dependent software on the cloud.

  • Develop and extend tools for continuous integration, automated testing and release management including adoption of tools like Git, Copado, Fortify, SonarQube, etc.

  • Manage the CI/CD process in a complex environment including Salesforce, Skuid, Docusign, Riva, API integrations and other platforms

  • Build and execute scripts to automate packaging and deployments

  • Evaluate new Salesforce releases and applications, participate in plans for their implementation, and remain current with Salesforce administration best practices

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with external vendors to achieve project goals, where necessary

  • Log and track identified problems through to resolution

  • Collaborate with system administrators, consultants, other engineers, and analysts to uncover pain points with processes and identify optimization opportunities

  • Prototype and pilot new tools and features to help deliver faster, with less manual intervention

  • Promote agile principles and methodology, follow various engineering practices and approaches


Skills/Competencies Required:


The Salesforce DevOps Engineer must be comfortable working in a fluid environment supported by a scaled agile development framework.  A strong desire for success, a positive demeanor and an ability to communicate and build partnerships with cross-functional groups throughout John Hancock are essential to this job.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Information Technology, or similar field

  • 3+ years Salesforce Administration, Release Management or Developer experience

  • Salesforce Certified Administrator, Salesforce Certified Platform Developer credentials

  • Ability to read and interpret Apex, Visualforce, Java, SQL/SOQL code

  • Expert technical understanding of the intersection of development and operations (DevOps)

  • Copado knowledge & hands-on experience

  • Mindset to design for processes that are efficient and solutions that are scalable.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously

  • Exemplary interpersonal and refined relationship-building skills

  • Strong analytical thinking capabilities and creative problem-solving skills

  • Ability to understand new information and ideas and evaluate the impact on current processes

  • Familiarity with Agile methodology / SAFE framework

  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail


Knowledge Preferred:



  • Familiarity with agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other approaches to accelerate the delivery of new features

  • Consulting Experience with Salesforce.com implementations, upgrades, integrations and customizations

  • Direct experience with related Salesforce platform tools like Fortify, SonarQube, Skuid, Docusign, Spanning, Cast Iron, Informatica

  • Financial Services Experience

  • Additional Salesforce certifications
