System Developer Perl & Linux at GfK (Amstelveen, Netherlands)

Job description:

Do you value Perl as a programming language of choice to quickly deliver small command line tools? Are you eager to dive into other developer’s code? Are you comfortable typing commands at a Linux bash prompt? We have the job for you!

At sysdev department, we work with audience measurement, surveys, market research, time-delivery studies, quality studies, etc. working closely with the media team within GfK. Our applications range from acquiring & processing data to delivering data. The software we write has a global reach. We work mainly with web-based application developed using ASP.Net MVC, Angular 2+, Cordova & Perl. We use Perl as our glue language, for all the scripts running in the background keeping things in check, exporting and importing data.

Requirements:

You will be responsible for a long list of Perl scripts running in production. These applications do tasks like:

• Maintain the databases (Extract/Import/Manipulate data)
• 
  
• Validate system statuses and inform users of errors
• 
  
• CGI scripts
• 
  

Skills needed:

• 
  
• Knowledge of Perl
• 
  
• Knowledge of Linux systems (scripting, networking, authentications . . .)
• 
  
• Willing to work with legacy software, extend and maintain existing applications built mostly with Perl 5 on a Linux environment
• 
  
• Work with multiple projects, ability to switch context when needed

• Work with AGILE mentality

• Curious and willing to learn
