Data Science Manager

A technical hands-on Manager to coordinate the MRPs Data Science / Analytics / Data Mgmt. team to identify how and where data can deliver innovative solutions to solve for business optimization  products.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Present findings and share insights with multiple business leaders throughout the organization

• Develop process improvements, analytical frameworks, share expertise with others, and continually strive to improve overall contributions to the department, evaluate and modify statistical methodologies, techniques and processes.

• Ensure successful project delivery and execution within project teams

• Hire, Mentor and ensure members of the team are knowledgeable about the latest trends and capabilities as they retail to AI and similar technologies

• Partnering with others to understand business challenges

• Designing creative approaches to uncover the biggest opportunities for cost and time savings

• Defining and driving the analytics strategy and modeling approaches

• Building business cases and translating findings into practical business implications

• Work closely with overseas developers and other data scientists w/ Agile Development concepts

• Work on all aspects of creating predictive intelligence including collecting requirements, establish analytics work plan, data exploration, cleansing, and preparation, identifying features, selecting algorithms, building and testing models, iteratively improving solutions

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in an engineering field and a Masters degree in a data science related field

• 2+ years of professional experience in data science and 7+ years of overall work experience

• Professional mentoring experience in education

• Advanced knowledge in all of the following; Python, R, Q/kdb+ and SQL

• Advanced knowledge in all of the following; HTML, JavaScript and data driven application design

• Experience in extracting, manipulating, and analyzing large data sets using Python and SQL

• Experience in RESTful API design and in all of the following frameworks; Flask, Django, R Shiny

• Ability to write scalable, flexible, reusable, well-documented and clean code

• Familiarity with fundamental computer science concepts

• Comfortable working with Unix-based OS

• Professional experience in relational and NoSQL databases, database design, modelling and implementation, ability to query in different dialects

• Solid statistical foundation, with knowledge of common statistical analysis techniques

• Strong knowledge with advanced visualization tools and techniques

• Experience in predictive modelling, recommendation systems and neural networks by using scikit-learn and/or TensorFlow
