The AR/VR org at Facebook is responsible for shipping the next generation of hardware and software to connect people anytime, anywhere. This includes our Oculus and Portal products along with features in Facebook, Instagram and Messenger.
DPMs within AR/VR at Facebook are passionate connectors and problem solvers. We support all operational aspects of the product design team to improve team communication, remove roadblocks, and ensure the design team can spend their time designing. Above all else, DPMs ensure that teams are stable and running well in order to allow designers, researchers and content strategists to focus on their work. We strive to communicate, connect and simplify.
In this role, you'll utilize a full range of organizational and interpersonal skills to help keep programs for the Product Design team on track, execute specific team initiatives intended to grow team culture and industry expertise and have an opportunity to work with cross-discipline partners.
Responsibilities
- Establish and manage new design programs and design-driven initiatives, guides & tools that better define AR/VR
- Establish and support ongoing programs for product managers including: onboarding, working with L&D to organize learning opportunities, team building, and mentorship programs
- Establish and execute special team activities that build culture and drive clarity of purpose
- Help raise the profile of product managers internally and externally by working closely with task force to implement impactful events, speakers, education, and activities
- Manage initiatives and tools that better define AR/VR to be more efficient and impactful
- Manage task forces by providing flexible processes that help keep communication on track and ensure people have information, tools, and resources they need to succeed
- Facilitate meetings including preparing agendas, establishing next steps, and owners
- Gather feedback to inform impactful improvements for programs
- Navigate a fast-paced environment that requires independent time management, task prioritization, flexibility, and keen ability to identify problems and proactively work towards solutions
- Build impactful relationships and serve as a dependable point of contact across the product management teams and cross-functional partners in all offices
- Establish communication structure to report out updates, progress, and status with task forces or leads on the team to ensure understanding roles and expectations
- Manage program communication and proactively connect with your partners in other offices or disciplines to create them awareness of the programs and how they can support you
- Track and move initiatives forward that have multiple stakeholders and many moving parts while driving clarity around ownership, objectives, and next steps
Minimum Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience as a producer, project manager or program manager with experience establishing programs, supporting teams, and developing relationships
- Track record of operating independently
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and creating communities
