Product Manager, Software at Recursion (Salt Lake City, UT)

At Recursion, we combine experimental biology, automation, and artificial intelligence to quickly and efficiently identify treatments for human diseases. We are hiring a Product Manager to define and ship software platforms, including backend and frontend components, which enable diverse teams at Recursion to impact innovation in drug discovery.

THE PROBLEMS YOU’LL SOLVE

As a Product Manager, you will play an essential role in executing our software platform strategy and driving internal software tools that connect our Biology, High Throughput Screening, and Data Science teams. This is an internal user-focused role that places emphasis on collaboration, problem solving, and innovation, rather than on competitive research and market strategy.

In this role, you’ll ask "what are the most impactful business problems we could improve with technical innovation and why?" You will then work with engineering leadership to incorporate many perspectives into the design, technical approach, and relative priority. The result of this work then enables the execution of dozens of high-volume biological experiments each week,  helping us discover drugs for patients faster and cheaper than ever before.

In this role you will:

  • Translate and articulate complicated and precise scientific and technical requirements into easily understood solutions and functional requirements, often with no solution in place at the time of problem identification

  • Synthesize and refine highly technical product deliverables by deeply understanding users and the technology landscape across domains

  • Work closely with Engineering to create frontend and backend components enabling simple and impactful experiences that also support continuous learning

  • Define and analyze metrics that inform the success of the software platform

  • Develop and communicate product priorities across the company by collaborating with various teams and building consensus among them

  • Maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm

THE EXPERIENCE YOU’LL NEED

  • 2+ years hands-on software product management experience preferred

  • Familiarity with data and databases; SQL knowledge is a plus

  • Experience defining, building, and shipping software platforms with backend and frontend components that are utilized by multiple internal and/or external teams

  • Experience with agile software development

  • Direct experience as a Software Engineer or BS in Computer Science, Biology, or related field is a plus

THE PERKS YOU’LL ENJOY

  • Coverage of health, vision, and dental insurance premiums (in most cases 100%)

  • 401(k) with generous matching (immediate vesting)

  • Stock option grants

  • Two one-week paid company closures (summer and winter) in addition to flexible, generous vacation/sick leave

  • Commuter benefit and vehicle parking to ease your commute

  • Complimentary chef-prepared lunches and well-stocked snack bars

  • Generous paid parental leave (including adoptive)

  • Fully-paid gym membership to Metro Fitness, located just feet away from our new headquarters

  • Gleaming new 100,000 square foot headquarters complete with a 70-foot climbing wall, showers, lockers, and bike parking
