Job Summary:
Hackster.io is a community dedicated to learning hardware, and we have big plans to move the needle forward. From helping developers and makers connect online and offline, to giving them better learning resources and motivating them to contribute, our backlog is exploding and we need more brains and hands on deck. You'll be working with our small team in downtown SF, getting your hands dirty in our RoR/React/Postgres/Heroku stack.
Specifically, we want you to become an integral member of our team and push features like there's no tomorrow. Expect 90% of it to be coded in JS/React (you might have to update some Rails code or anything else in our stack every now and then). CSS is a must, too.
System Analyst/Developers: Develop, maintain, and enhance business applications. Collaborate with stakeholders to validate user requirements, assess available technologies, and recommend solution options. Uses process design technology methodologies, programming languages and tools and solutions design techniques to develop applications to meet business specifications. Validates functional specifications, builds technical specifications and develops application documentation. Performs analysis, design, development and testing of applications to solve business requirements. Integrates new or enhanced application components.
Experience:
- Typically 3 to 5 years with bachelor’s or equivalent or 1 -3 years with master’s
- 1 year of professional experience using React and JavaScript
- Thorough knowledge and frequent application of technical standards, principles, concepts and techniques.
- Develops solutions to a wide variety of problems and works on projects requiring evaluation and analysis. Applies technical knowledge, concepts or theories when determining which solutions are best applied.
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Distinguishing Characteristics:
- Strong vanilla JS skills
- Existing on-the-job experience and understanding of inner workings of React and ES6
- The ability to learn, fast
- Rigor and the ability to abide by clear design rules
- Both independence and team work
- Bonus points if you're a maker yourself
