As a Cloud Engineer you will be part of Zalando’s Product Analytics department which aims to strengthen Zalando`s data-driven culture of decision making. We deliver insights from 20+ billion monthly tracking hits and 200 billion single pieces of information about our web and app users. You will enable our teams like Digital Analytics, Experimentation and 25+ other data product teams to use our web/app tracking data to inform decisions and build new and improve existing products.
YOU ARE SETTING STANDARDS
Consult.You are consulting teams on the best practices for working with data stored in BigQuery. You are working on the line between Software Engineering and Systems Engineering.
Variety. You are experienced with import, export and ETL automation from and to sources like Google Analytics, Facebook, and other external or internal services. Additionally, you are monitoring related tools and processes.
Ownership. You are responsible for the automation of rights management and project administration.
YOU ARE SKILLED
Technologies & Experience. You have an excellent understanding of Cloud Platforms technology stack – AWS, GCP. You are experienced in Data warehousing platform - ideally Google BigQuery. You are skilled in SQL, Python and are ideally also experienced working IPython or equivalent, experience and/or NoSQL (e.g. BigQuery / Bigtable, CouchDB, other nested table formats). Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language, knowing Go is a plus. In-depth understanding of UNIX/Linux system internals and TCP/IP networking. Well-versed in scripting (Bash/Python) and infrastructure automation. Good knowledge of computer science fundamentals (algorithms and data structures). A track record of running large-scale systems. Cloud native mindset, including microservices, resilience and scale-out. Some frontend skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) would be a plus.
Coaching. You enable and coach others on different levels (SQL, Python). Additionally, you are curious and step ahead when it comes to software trends.
Drive. You are a natural leader who takes ownership of the team’s deliveries and you are willing to take responsibility for running an important part of our infrastructure. Additionally, you have good communication skills and can engage people on different levels alike.
Analytical. You are analytical and have documentation experience.
