Full Stack Principal Architect at TRAVELCLICK (Atlanta, GA)

Overview
We are building the next generation of data products for our 30,000+ hospitality industry customers. We are looking for a Principal Architect to play a key role in shaping and executing on the vision for our data platforms, architecture, design, and development methodologies.
You have deep hands-on experience across multiple inter-connected disciplines including data engineering (ETL), data warehouse/dimensional modeling, and BI application design (front-end, back-end, middleware). You are pragmatic, creative, and thrive on deploying performant, fault tolerant, and scalable solutions on microservice based frameworks such as Kubernetes/Docker.
You will oversee/mentor a small high performing team of data engineers and UIUX developers across a variety of projects/products. This will entail defining development and deployment standards, effective communication with product teams and management, data analysis, and overall thought leadership/guidance. You also have an appreciation for UIUX design principles and aesthetics for front end development to drive user adoption.
You are a constant and resourceful learner who is quick to evaluate and apply technologies that complement the overall vision. You will drive innovation via R&D to continually improve our products and platforms. As required, you will embrace and learn evolving areas of Analytics which includes Machine Learning which can further enhance our products and customer experience.
Responsibilities
  • Define the end-to-end architecture and standards for our core data platforms, data engineering pipelines and U/IUX front end layer.
  • Define a central Metadata layer which reflects the complex needs of our business units (Media, BI, Reservations) and is architected for performance and scale.
  • Lead/Mentor team of data engineers and UI/UX developers and define standards for development and deployment methodologies.
  • Directly assist with data analysis, design approach, functional mapping of business needs to data model and pipeline.
  • Define standards for low latency data pipelines and ETL to ensure they are resilient, fault tolerant and within SLA.
  • Continuously research evolving open source technologies and determine viability to further improve our products.
  • Interface with product teams for data analysis and functional requirements. As needed enforce best practices and principles for Analytics (Charts, Filters, Data Visualizations).
  • Work directly with Engineering teams and Project Management leads to ensure consistent delivery per the roadmap.
  • Lead the design and development of the front end UI/UX tier (ReactJS, GraphQL).
  • Familiarity with Linux, Git, Jenkins, and modern CI/CD pipelines.

  • 3+ years experience with modern full stack development that includes:
    • Front-end web frameworks such as React and API frameworks such as GraphQL
    • Data Engineering pipelines for large scale DB such as Python/Airflow
    • Kubernetes and Docker frameworks
Additional Characteristics
  • Kafka and Lambda architecture experience a plus.
  • Experience migrating legacy BI solutions to Open Source or Cloud based platforms a plus (GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • Must have a collaborative attitude.
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking/problem solving skills are essential.
  • Efficient time management and ability to prioritize tasks are a must.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Must be a voracious learner.
