Hagerty, the leading provider of classic car insurance, valuation tools and roadside service for people who love cars, has an opportunity for a Web UX Developer. This individual is primarily responsible for production and maintenance of the front-end (HTML, CSS and JavaScript) of company websites and applications. This includes optimization of client-side code, graphics, etc. to maintain optimal site performance; as well as testing and troubleshooting to ensure the quality of new, enhanced and existing software developments. This role is be based in either our Traverse City or Ann Arbor MI office.
Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain the front-end of the company website and applications.
- Develop outstanding interactive experiences that are built on modern platforms, optimized and responsive.
- Support designers and content editors in publishing content through the Content Management System (CMS).
- Support QA Analyst in creating test plans for new software development and enhancements.
- Test and troubleshoot new software development, enhancements and existing functionality; including documenting and resolving defects.
- Implementation of tracking, testing and monitoring tools.
- Delivering products that are stable, fast and secure.
Requirements:
- 4-year degree with a major in Web, Interactive, Computer Science or related Design/ Interaction/User Experience field preferred or 2 additional years of professional experience in lieu of a degree.
- Intermediate level graphics creation, manipulation and optimization.
- Strong understanding of traditional web front-end including HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.
- Experience with SEO and web analytics.
- Experience working with CMS, CRM and email platforms.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate complex interactive and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and team members.
- Strong problem solving, multitasking and prioritizing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and ability to work effectively autonomously and in groups.
- Proficient in MS Office and mainstream digital design tools on Mac or PC.
- An OO programming background with specific experience in a .Net shop is a plus.
- Experience working with modern front-end technologies (Angular, TypeScript, SASS) is a plus.
- Working remotely in this role is an option. You must have dedicated private work space available, free from competing responsibilities.
