Researcher Internship - Human Computer Interaction/Interaction Design, Rakuten at Rakuten (Setagaya, Japan)

Position Summary:


Rakuten Institute of Technology (RIT) is the R&D department of the Rakuten group, conducting research for next-generation technologies that can empower merchants and customers.



We are looking for passionate R&D members to develop new technology solutions for improving and expanding Rakuten's business. Successful candidates will also demonstrate enthusiasm and possess a commendable work ethic, team spirit, and communication skills.



In this position, you will work on projects, conduct research, design prototypes, test and deploy them as software solutions, and bridge academic research to core or emerging businesses.




Responsibilities:



  • Conduct research, define the user interaction and user interface for new and existing experiences

  • Develop high level storyboards, and low-fi prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas

  • Build prototype and develop software solutions to demonstrate concept

  • Conduct usability evaluations to gauge the usability of prototype

  • Test and deploy software solutions to real businesses

  • Publish research results in academic societies



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Currently pursuing a master or PhD degree in computer science or a related field(Please note your graduation on CV)

  • Knowledge of Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design and/or User Interface Design


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming

  • Experience in web apps and server programming – JavaScript, HTML5, Java, SQL

  • Experience in mobile development (iOS or Android)

  • Experience in Virtual and Augmented Reality

  • Excellent programming skill in C/C++/C#, Java, Python or others



Language Level:


English: Business Level 


Japanese: Not Mandatory
