In This Role, You Will
Essential Responsibilities:
- Act as a member of the broader Digital Workplace Technology team, representing the face of high quality design and development practices
- Be responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the
- Work with product line leaders and architects to develop multi generation software technology plans aligned to product requirements and business strategy
- Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse
- Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
- Develop high performing, enterprise scale, innovative end-to-end web applications
- Collaborate with system engineers and backend developers to design, build, and implement core platforms and solutions
- Apply principles of key methodologies such as Lean/Agile/XP, software and product security, scalability, documentation practices, code refactoring, and testing
- Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the core tech stack selected for the desired products
- Build new key features for the product portfolio, leveraging existing standard frameworks for the ecosystem
- Understand performance parameters and frequently assess application stability throughout its lifecycle
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or in STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience OR Masters degree with 6 years of experience OR PhD with 3 years of experience
- GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Miami
Desired Characteristics:
- Proven understanding of core computer science fundamentals (such as data structures, memory management, design patterns, algorithms & Big-O notation)
- Proven experience and solid understanding of JavaScript, including but not limited to ES6 features, the event loop, etc.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs as well as understanding API concepts,
- Understanding of general concepts related to Cloud infrastructure - including optimization, and continuous deployment and integration Azure is a plus,
- Solid knowledge of NodeJS using version 8.x and above,
- Solid knowledge of popular JS frameworks including ExpressJS,
- Working knowledge of semantic versioning using git and GitHub,
- Familiarity with unit, integration and/or automated testing,
- Working knowledge of using noSQL and SQL databases
- Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
- Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
- Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry trends
- Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices
- Ability to takes ownership of small and medium sized tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members
- Ensures understanding of issues and presents clear rationale. Able to speak to mutual needs and win-win solutions. Uses two-way communication to influence outcomes and ongoing results
