What We Do
The Advantage Group conducts our online and offline benchmarking research studies in over 40 countries and have been dedicated to this purpose for over 30 years. We analyse relationships between global retailers and manufacturers. We are using multiple tools such as Confirmit, Qlik and Ascribe to report the results to our clients, giving them the tools to improve their processes and workflows.
We are continuously improving our software integration, so that we can provide faster reports and better analysis to our clients.
Who We Need
We are looking for a versatile software developer that can evolve with the software and the changing business climate. The successful candidate will be implementing a rich modern browser interface for data management and data visualization, implementing back-end business logic, and integrating the application with 3rd party tools.
In other words, we need someone who:
- Is a full-stack developer
- Can work in an agile environment (be part of a team, but manage your own time)
- Has the technical skills to work with the all aspects of the application: UI, web services, and databases.
- Is comfortable integrating with existing back-end system and with a variety of 3rd party tools
- Wants to work with us to grow our development methodology
Your Day-to-Day
Currently – in production – a variety of internal applications, external systems and manual processes are used to create surveys and analyse responses. We are replacing the existing processes with a brand-new large-scale back office application. Your responsibilities will involve:
- Work as part of an agile team to implement new functionality and resolve existing issues.
- Adhere to and proactively make recommendations to improve Advantage’s coding standards and development policies
- Test the work of other team members.
- Assist with production configuration and deployment, as necessary.
Your Skill Set
You must have experience with two of the following:
- HMTL, JavaScript and CSS, and typical UI libraries such as Angular IO, Bootstrap, etc.
- Java and typical Java libraries such as Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, JHipster, etc.
- Analyzing and querying relational databases
Experience with the following is beneficial:
- Linux
- Common development tools, such as Maven, Git, Jenkins, etc.
- Any RAD or Agile development methodology
You should understand:
- Software architecture
- Relational data
- Software development processes and methodologies
- How the internet works
- Software and Internet security
Your Characteristics
You must have:
- Fantastic written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills
- Discipline to be productive in an Agile environment
You must be:
- A creative thinker: need to be able to come up with novel solutions to established problems, and evaluate their business benefit
- Business-savvy: need to be able to interact with both business specs and technical specs
