ETS (Electronic Trading Services) Facilities Engineer at JP Morgan Chase (Jersey City, NJ)

The ETS (Electronic Trading Services) Facilities Engineer will be a key resource in the ETS Delivery Management organization, responsible for the strategic design of the physical plant (space & power) for the Americas Colocation facilities for which ETS has oversight & management responsibilities.  The Facilities Engineer will be responsible for that these locations adhere to JPMC Enterprise standards as well as additional standards driven by the specialization associated with electronic trading & colocation environments.  The ETS organization launched a Facilities Programme in 2018 designed to bring global homogeneity to the 40+ Colo estate, and the Facilities Engineer will have responsibility for supporting execution of work associated with the Programme, as well as traditional facilities change & maintain duties.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:


 


Facilities Programme Startup



  • Respond to the Facilities Survey, for how each site is managed and what systems are used to support them

  • Implement additional remediation, as needed by site, based on the responses provided to the Facilities Survey

  • Conduct site assessment visits at all locations

  • Participate in the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures where they do not already exist

  • Participate in on-boarding facilities to new tools (eg - OverSITE, DCOS, Aperture)

  • Incept ETS-specific facilities standards to augment Firm standards where required for E-Trading differentiation

Project / Change the Firm



  • Translate project requirements to build artifacts (floor plans, rack elevations, low-voltage patching schedules, high-voltage patching schedules, structured cabling design, cable routing schematics)

  • Translate firm-wide (DCO) facilities standards and/or ETS bespoke facilities standards to all build artifacts

  • Ensure resiliency & redundancy in physical plant (power, device placement, low/high voltage cable patching, cable routing)

Ongoing / Run The Firm



  • Ensure hardware installed/supported by ETS appropriately represented in JPMC Global Product Catalog

  • Interface between Facilities & ETS Tooling (Noogle, other)

  • Participate in bench testing of new equipment (host, network, power/PDU)

  • Capacity management (cage, rack, power, low/high Voltage cabling)

  • Liaise with Enterprise Facilities Team (DCS) to maintain interlock between ETS & Firm standards

  • Provide facilities subject matter expertise for facilities strategy discussions

  • Maintain awareness involve changes in processes, and/or on-boarding to new tools, and translate to ETS delivery

  • Monitor findings of monitoring tools and address gaps/issues found

  • Conduct annual site assessment visits at all locations

  • Maintain facilities documentation library

  • Tradeshows/Conferences/Training

Qualifications



  • University Degree (Bachelors or Masters) or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 10 years specializing in facilities design & implementation

  • Minimum 5 years experience in an IT role at a Commercial or Investment Bank

  • Working knowledge of host & networking systems

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and time management skills

  • Team player adept at collaborating with internal & external parties to develop ideal solution for the business

  • Strong decision maker, with transparent & timely communication & follow-up

  • Excellent listening, writing, speaking, presentation and facilitation skills

  • Flexible, hands on and able to work in a fast paced, high pressure, client-focused and collaborative environment
