Under the general direction of the UCLA Health Sciences schools' Director of Software Development, the Mobile Application Engineer is responsible for the development of mobile (and web) applications that will be used across the UCLA Health Sciences Schools. This position will work in a team environment on multiple initiatives at a single time. The Mobile Application Engineer will be expected to interface with clients to understand their business requirements and be able to translate those requirements into a technical design. The Mobile Application Engineer will also be involved in the operational support of production applications including providing assistance to users, identifying and resolving potential bugs, and providing recommendations for improvements to the applications.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics or related field.
Strong working experience with mobile operating system (iOS and Android)
Detailed working knowledge of a modern formal programming language and development tools (C, C++, Objective C, Swift, etc).
Detailed working knowledge of programming/scripting languages (e.g. TCL, Perl, Python, JavaScript, React Native, procedural SQL).
Knowledge of relational database software and SQL (e.g. Oracle, Postgres, MS-SQL).
Strong written and oral communication skills, and excellent customer service skills with tact in dealing with demanding clients.
Detail oriented with the ability to plan and prioritize work on multiple initiatives, respond to rapidly changing needs, and meet deadlines.
Team player; enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team as well as working independently to produce results.
Experience working in an agile development environment.
