Small, rapidly growing proprietary trading firm is expanding its systems administration team.

We are primarily a Linux shop both on the server and desktop sides.  We run Windows servers and desktops in a few select cases.  Fluency in Linux administration is a must.  Some Windows administration skills are a plus, especially for migrating off.

We face our users directly and interact with them frequently, so good people skills go a long way.  Candidate must be able to work problems to completion and to tolerate frequent context switches.

Responsibilities include:

# Installations of workstations on trading floors and in offices.

# Installations of servers and networking appliances in data centers sometimes requiring travel.

# Administration of ZFS filers, MySQL and MariaDB dataservers, DNS, subversion and compute servers both physical and virtual.

# Scripting skills are a must, bash, perl, python, SQL.

# Ensure a robust security posture including 2FA, iptable rulesets, fail2ban, patch and pray, etc.

# Ensure resiliency especially making sure the DR site stays as hot as possible.

Occasional tasks include:

# Hardware maintenance.

# Large-scale buildouts sometimes requiring travel, both domestic and international.

# Installations of appliances such as printers, phones, televisions etc.

#Cable pulls: copper and fiber.
