Product Owner Point of Sale at Hy-Vee (Grimes, IA)

There is an immediate job opening in the IT Department for a Product Owner. The following partial job description explains this full-time position located at the Grimes Technology & Innovation Center. The position is primarily Monday through Friday with occasional overtime and some travel.  



As a Product Owner at Hy-Vee, you will be a member of one of the Hy-Vee solution delivery teams following an agile delivery cadence. Your primarily focus will be to help us build out the product vision and adoption for a new Point of Sale system. This new Point of Sale system will be integral to our company’s success. This system will impact both physical stores as well as Aisles Online, our e-commerce platform.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Help execute the vision and strategy for the Point of Sale implementation and integration with other systems in the Hy-Vee product eco-system



  1. Interface with key people from our business team and management to capture requirements
  2. Work with the Point of Sale organization to distill large initiatives into a deliverable roadmap
  3. Curate the product backlog
  4. Work with the architects and technical members of the team to ensure that production vision and technical execution are in harmony
  5. Be organized and detail oriented

 MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB:


High School or equivalent experience. Two to three years of additional schooling with an emphasis in technology is preferred.


 Skills and Experience:


Required



  1. Effective and patient communicator that can translate technical and non-technical issues to various team members
  2. Proven ability to guide the definition and refinement of product vision and strategy
  3. Cross functional leadership skills to execute product strategy
  4. Multiple years of hands-on experience as a Product Owner
  5. Experience working within an environment with a Continuous Discovery/Delivery mindset
  6. Multiple years of experience working directly with software engineers
  7. Ability to learn new domains quickly
  8. Desire to grow as an individual through continuously learning new techniques
  9. Must have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
  10. Must possess the ability to compose original correspondence; follow technical manuals; evaluate technical data; and counsel or advise people
  11. Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time
  12. Visual requirements include clarity of vision at 20 inches or less up to 20 feet or more with or without correction; and color vision
  13. Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions

Advantageous



  1. Experience in supply-chain and/or retail processes
  2. Experience mentoring other Product Owners
  3. Lean six sigma experience
  4. Experience with elaborating user stories using models, acceptance criteria and examples in gherkin format
  5. Experience with requirements analysis and elicitation
  6. Experience working with automation engineers
  7. Experience facilitating discussions between people from technical and business parts of the organization
  8. Experience with system integration efforts
