FEV North America, Inc. is seeking an Automated Test Systems Engineer with strong experience in automated test systems design and general software development knowledge.
Job Description:
- LabVIEW software development of top-level test applications, user interfaces, hardware drivers, etc. spanning multiple domains (electric powertrain, autonomous driving, RF, etc.)
- Development of automated test sequences using NI TestStand
- Developing software to communicate with and control test system hardware such as power supplies, thermal chambers, or data acquisition (DAQ) devices
- Analyze customer requirements and test plans to define hardware and software needed in a new test system
- Installation, upgrade and maintenance of existing and new automated test systems
- Occasional development work using text-based languages (C#, Python) to accomplish tasks ill-suited to LabVIEW or TestStand
- Occasional hardware debug when bringing up a new system (connectivity issues, wiring issues, etc.)
- Participate in a multi-developer team
- Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers
- Strong communication with the ability to present to internal and external clients
- Estimate required time and cost to develop a test system or complete a task
Required Qualifications:
- Good software development foundation, understanding of common concepts such as loops, conditional logic, or state machines
- Familiar with electrical principles (characteristics of voltage/current, basic filters, etc.)
- Familiar with configuring and using NI hardware (PXI, cRIO, cDAQ), differences between them
- Proficiency with bench test equipment (Oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.)
- Ability to read/understand hardware wiring schematics
- Familiar with integrating test system hardware (power supplies, thermal chambers, etc.)
- Experience debugging common hardware issues (sources of noise, grounding, etc.)
- Must be motivated and able to work with minimal direct supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
- Highly motivated / strong work ethic
- Demonstrated ability to overcome initial lack of knowledge to accomplish a given task
Nice-to-haves:
- Ability to demonstrate a minimum level of experience in LabVIEW equivalent to 12+ months continuous use
- Experience developing sequences from scratch using NI TestStand
- Experience with other NI software VeriStand, LabVIEW RT, LabVIEW FPGA
- Experience with additional development languages (Python, C, C#, etc.)
- Hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) test experience using NI hardware/software
- NI Certifications (CLAD, CLD, CTD, etc.)
- Familiarity with software development workflows (Issue tracking, unit testing, continuous integration, etc.)
- Domain area expertise (electrified powertrain, RF, etc.)
- Automotive bus experience (CAN, CANFD, LIN, BroadR ethernet, etc.)
