Principal Software Engineer in Test (Java) at PRA Health Sciences (San Diego, CA)

Overview:

This position is critical to the growth and continued success of the organization with responsibility for quality assurance of the group's products and services. The ideal candidate will apply his/her working knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and work alongside our Creative and Engineering departments to help develop cutting edge software that speeds up the medical trial process.


Responsibilities:

  • Must have a working knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and a strong background in API , Web, and Mobile Automation.
  • Must have experience in Java.
  • Plan and coordinate testing activities.
  • Develop, publish and implement test plans to ensure product quality.
  • Write and maintain test automation.
  • Develop quality assurance standards.
  • Define and track quality assurance metrics such as defect densities and open defect counts.
  • Must have a working knowledge of quality assurance methodologies.
  • Familiar with all deployed environments.
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Other tasks as assigned
  • Work under general supervision; typically reports to a manager.
  • Certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
  • Collaborate with engineering team to plan and manage agile software development sprints for multiple customers, simultaneously and:

            o   Design traceability matrices, test plans and test scripts for mobile and platform          software requirements

           o   Execute test scripts, evaluate and troubleshoot to detect errors and bugs

           o   Coordinate testing activities with additional QA testers

           o   Conduct integration, regression, and end-to-end testing

           o   Ensure that quality issues and defects are appropriately identified, prioritized, documented, tracked, and resolved in a defect tracking system.

  • Collaborate with creative team to plan and manage mobile app testing
  • Design & Develop Test Automation; Lead test automation efforts for the platform (API, Web, Mobile)
  • Experience developing standards for testing framework (including keyword driven, data driven, coding standards, naming standards etc.)
  • Experience with leading and participating in architecture and design discussions
  • Selected candidate may be expected to manage one or more testers.

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in related technical field (or equivalent)
  • 4+ years of building and extending test framework in Java
  • 7+ years of object-oriented programming (Java, C#, Ruby, or similar language)
  • 3+ years of SQL
  • 1+ years of NoSQL Datasource, such as Mongo
  • 2+ years of any scripting language (JavaScript, Python, or similar language)
  • 5+ years of REST API Testing using RestAssured or similar Test Automation
  • 5+ years of experience testing web applications with Selenium
  • 3+ years of experience testing mobile applications
  • Experience with JIRA for tracking user stories, as well as defects
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbal)
  • Experience with an Agile-based team
  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clinical, healthcare or life sciences background (HIPAA, 21CFR)
  • Experience with TestRail, Confluence
  • 2+ years of Ruby programming
  • 2+ years of JavaScript programming
  • 2+ years of using Capybara
  • 2+ years of CI/CD experience
