About The Job
We have built rig, our own platform as a service, to make it easy for other engineers to deploy and run their services. In the 2 years since we launched rig, there have been over 100,000 deploys, and we have over 400 services running on it today. However, we’re just getting started!
We're looking for an Engineering Manager with a high level of empathy, who is passionate about creating tools and automation to develop and improve this platform.
You Will
- Mentor and manage a team of 3-5 engineers who build and maintain BuzzFeed’s core infrastructure, including the platform that all other products and services depend on
- Lead technical initiatives and manage career growth for your team
- Own the output and day-to-day operations of your team
- Enable the team do their best work, by managing processes to improve workflow
- Help translate business goals to technical projects
- Collaborate with product and engineering in the design and architecture of systems
- Be hands on with code. Carry out code reviews and architecture reviews
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation
- Reports to Director of Engineering, Core Infrastructure
