Director of Engineering
Over the past 18 months we have grown our engineering department from 5 to 16 people and are now looking for a Director of Engineering to continue help us grow and excel. Your responsibilities will include monthly 1:1s and setting individual career development plans, yearly performance reviews, general administrative activities, recruiting, interviewing and hiring new engineers as well as ensuring developers are executing on the tasks directed (by product/project management) with excellence, quality and focus. You are responsible for ensuring that individual team members perform to the highest standard, deliver on promised projects / timelines and remain enthused about the work.
A suitable candidate has an excellent understanding on how to manage people, create accountability, resolve conflicts and motivate. You are also well versed in technology and understand the difficulties in developing complex software. You prioritize in developing people, since you know that without people, products won't exist. You are able to create and maintain a department where accountability for deliverables, quality and care for the craft is held to the highest standard.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple teams of engineers developing various parts of our platform
- Hiring, onboarding, mentoring the engineers
- Understanding requirements set from product organization and ensuring delivery in a timely and quality manner
- Work closely with product managers, project managers, technical architects and executive leadership
