If you’re a UX Designer who lives and breaths native mobile, loves to build products, you want to impact more than 70 million end-customers on a daily basis, and you’re willing to work in fintech, one of the hottest markets at the moment, then we’re looking for you.
As a product-focused UX Designer, you will be part of the Products team at Backbase, working on creating the next generation of digital banking products for our mobile customers around the world. You will be our main designer in the mobile squad, bringing an end-to-end application to market.
Your profile
You should have a strong background in creating products, with a track record in interaction design, and prototyping. You understand that it’s not just about flashy images, but about real customer interactions across different devices, with a clear journey and goal in mind. You can steer work and conversations away from discussing ‘the color of a button’ to proven and validated interactions.
You know what it means to solve complex, functional and analytical problems while keeping the customer top of mind and get things done while keeping your squad members productive. You can translate customer opportunities and pain points into detailed product requirements.
You’re strong enough to not jump on every new bandwagon and able to prioritize your work proactively. You can explain concepts and design decisions based on user testing and UX best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and prototype interfaces for iOS and Android
- Create information architecture and customer flows
- Understand how to work, maintain and extend component libraries
- Create high quality, production–ready assets
- Assist in wireframing and incorporate an intuitive UX flow in current and new screens
- Continually iterate to design the best possible solution
- Work collaboratively with developers and product owners
Key Qualifications:
Required Skills
- 3+ years’ experience in UX design for mobile apps
- Strong understanding of mobile standards (Apple Human Interface Guidelines, Android Material Design), trends, techniques and best practices
- Excellent creative, conceptual, and critical thinking capabilities
- An understanding that design is not just how it looks but how it acts, works and feels
- Self-directed and self-motivated with the ability to take on and lead design initiatives
- Strong understanding of product development, product goals and business rules
- Intellectual curiosity and a sense of craftsmanship
- Clear verbal and written communication skills in english
- Proficient user of design and prototyping tools (e.g. Sketch, Invision, Framer, Principal etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

- Understanding of motion and animation fundamentals
- Understanding of the nuances of mobile technologies across device
