JOB DESCRIPTION
The Advanced Products Group is a recently created practice chartered with the rapid development and engineering of forward looking products aimed at extending the Xfinity data and video portfolios.
As part of this new practice, we are forming a startup team to drive the development and delivery for the next generation customer facing products and services using sensor fusion concept. The Director of Product Engineering acts as the technical lead and drives technical architecture, engineering process and development of the full stack, mobile apps, cloud service and device firmware. This person will also be involved in cultivate partnerships across multi-functional teams to insure successful deployment of the solution to the market.
You must be self-motivated, proactive, eager and willing to work collaboratively with stakeholders in adjacent products and organizations. Must have no less than 5 years proven track record of rapidly delivering IoT connected devices and software solutions and at least 10 years of overall engineering management. Previous experiences should include projects with a mix of software and hardware and roles in architecture, development and management of team. Startup experience and track record of building successful integrated development teams are strong pluses.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide overall engineering leadership
- Drive technical strategy, architecture and operational readiness
- Ramp and manage engineering resources
- Develop and maintain relationships with all necessary internal engineering organizations to ensure a well-integrated development process and technical outcome
- Develop and deliver documentation for internal and external product integrations
- Perform financial analysis for development and technical operations
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong all around engineering leader with understanding of IoT, networkig, AI, and cloud technologies.
- Proficient with Agile product development methodologies and processes
- 15+ years of hand-on software development, 10+ years of engineering team management, 5+ years in leadership roles within deliverying successfull products
- Direct experience with modern software design principles and technologies, including development for complex web environments and mobile applications.
- Direct expertise in REST/SOAP/JSON API s and message bus technologies such as NATS, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ; Apache Kafka.
- Solid working knowledge of NoSQL databases, preferably Cassandra.
- Experience developing cloud application using microservices and scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS, Google Cloud or equivalent.
- Proficiency with Python, Javascripts, Java, distributed system frameworks such as Apache Zookeeper. Understandnig of embedded SW development, RTOS. Basic understanding of Go.
- CS, EE Bachelor's degree or similar
- MBA or equivalent experience is preferred
- Entrepreneurial attitude and willingness to drive innovation through a complex organization
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with ability to articulate complex technology simply
