Design, develop, test, and implement databases within various environments based on customer technical requirements and architectural standards. Participate in data modeling, BigData, Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), and schema design. Create data models for reference data, transaction, and position schemas. Develop stored procedures, tables, and views that optimized for data retrieval, persistence, low-latency, and query structure. Create schema objects for Big Data data lake and hydrate data structures. Implement data structures and queries. Document designs and perform unit tests. Prepare application programming interfaces (APIs). Participate in code reviews, identify and troubleshoot application code-related issues, and provide feedback on any required final user documentation. Secure database access via authentication and authorization schemes. Implement and validate enterprise security practices. Participate in database schema reviews, stored procedure reviews, and walkthroughs to ensure that solutions meet the needs of the business and the system. Ensure compliance to all requirements. Maintain record of all maintenance and system enhancements. Resolve emergency production issues within required timeframes. Liaise with both onshore and offshore team members.
Minimum education and experience required: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field of study plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or five (5) years of experience as Software Developer/Engineer, Data Architect/Modeler, Database Administrator, IT Consultant, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Master's degree plus three (3) years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of experience.
Skills Required: This position requires three (3) years of experience with the following skills: data modeling using Erwin or Embarcadero, Power Designer, and Visio; Oracle 9i and 11g; Oracle Analytics; SQL; MS Access; Toad; ETL tools including Informatica PowerCenter; BigData; Python; HDFS; HUE; Impala; Spark; OLAP; OLTP; OOP; service oriented architecture (SOA); client-server; UNIX, Linux, and Windows operating systems; identifying performance bottlenecks in databases and implementing solutions; modeling both normalized and de-normalized structures; converting logical models into successful physical structures for performance and scalability; and coding PL/SQL for service-oriented architecture (SOA) services or data services.
