Founded in 1964, UMOM is committed to our mission to prevent and end homelessness using innovative strategies and housing solutions that meet the unique needs of each family and individual. One of these innovative strategies is our Rapid Rehousing program which is an effective approach that is in use nationwide. We started our program over ten years ago and it is still experiencing growth. At UMOM, we move quickly to place families or individuals into short-term, subsidized housing, and then deploy a range of supportive services to overcome barriers to permanent housing. We provide safe shelter and supportive services for over 170 homeless families. We also offer nearly 300 units of affordable housing across the valley, each with special program centers for residents.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A HELP DESK SUPPORT SPECIALIST
As a Help Desk Support Specialist, you use your fantastic problem-solving and communication skills to perform onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end users. You are a troubleshooting extraordinaire! Based on your findings, you recommend and implement corrective solutions including offsite repair for remote users as needed.
To deliver required desktop service levels, you install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user workstations and related hardware and software. Additionally, you assess the need for and implement performance upgrades to PC boxes including the installation of CPUs, I/O and NIC cards, hard disks, ribbon cables, hard drives, RAM, memory chips, CD-ROMs, etc. Your ability to help people feel heard as you solve their information technology (IT) issues is invaluable, not only to them but to our overall success!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A HELP DESK SUPPORT SPECIALIST
- 2+ years of experience providing onsite desktop/network support
- Experience with active directory in a domain environment
- Excellent Windows Operating System knowledge
- Great technical knowledge of PC, laptop, and desktop hardware as well as current protocols, operating systems, and standards including desktop virtualization
- Valid driver's license with no more than 2 moving violations in a one-year period and auto insurance
- Level one fingerprint clearance card or the ability to obtain one
Bachelor's degree in information technology (IT), computer science, or a related field, Network+, A+, Security+, MCP, CCNA, and/or CCENT certifications are preferred but not required.
