Principal Cloud Site Reliability Engineer

LOCATION: REMOTE

A unique opportunity to join this newly formed team to engineer cutting edge Oracle Cloud technologies and infrastructure that make up the Oracle Food & Beverage Cloud solutions. As part of the SRE team, you will be continually challenged and have an opportunity to contribute to the Oracle Cloud success every day, working closely with the development and Infrastructure partners.

As an SRE, you will solve interesting technical challenges by defining, designing deploying and troubleshooting key Oracle Cloud services, platforms, and infrastructure, always thinking about reliability, scalability, resilience, security, and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning
  • Use basic knowledge of cloud architecture to perform tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing cloud infrastructure and tools according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing service architecture
  • Partner with development teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture
  • Implement automation and orchestration for manual processes required to operate and deploy cloud services
  • Providing support during various operations such as deployment and general production
  • Creating secure custom code such as JavaScript, Java, HTML, CSS and C to automate operational tasks and enact self-healing routines
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of the mission critical stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of proven experience in Cloud services
  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or an equivalent
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services
  • Strong experience with SQL
  • Experience implementing, supporting, and building integrations with tools like Prometheus
  • A working understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby)
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available Cloud service
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or Engineering
