What you’ll do as a Senior Network Engineer at Akuna:
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our innovative and growing Infrastructure team at Akuna. The ideal candidate is likely to have worked within the financial industry and able to demonstrate a successful history in network architecture, design, maintenance, and monitoring. We are looking for highly self-motivated multi-taskers who are comfortable working in a demanding, state-of-the-art electronic trading environment. In this role, you will:
- Analyze business requirements, architect, design, implement, and manage networks ranging from offices and remote sites to low latency, high bandwidth systems across global data centers
- Evaluate new hardware and software technology on an ongoing basis to ensure that our trading infrastructure remains stable, performant, and cost effective
- Develop innovative, automated systems and processes to improve operational efficiency
- Diagnose complex issues within the network stack including low level packet capture analysis
- Own the network – proactively monitor the health and status of the global network and continuously make improvements to ensure our trading system remains dominant
- Work closely with Developers and the IT infrastructure team on architecting and executing our network technology
Qualities that make great candidates:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience as a Network Engineer, with 3-5 years of experience in a Senior Network Engineer or Network Architect role
- Proven track record of architecting and supporting networks and technologies in an enterprise environment
- Extensive experience working with global data centers
- Experience at trading firm is a plus
- Experience working with a variety of network equipment providers
- Demonstrated experience with Juniper/Arista/Cisco
- Familiarity with a diverse path/low latency WAN utilizing multiple vendors
- Background in hardware- or software-based messaging protocols
- CCIE Certification required
- Scripting language experience such as Python is a plus
