If any of this excites you we are looking to expand our team. We currently have open roles in the portfolio modeling team within the Financial Modeling Group (FMG).

The FMG is a diverse and global team with a keen interest and expertise in all things related to technology and financial analytics.  The group is responsible for the research and development of quantitative financial models and tools across many different areas single-security pricing, prepayment models, risk, return attribution, optimization and portfolio construction, scenario analysis and simulations, etc. and covering all asset classes. The group is also responsible for the technology platform that delivers those models to our internal partners and external clients, and their integration with Aladdin. FMG conducts leading research on the areas above, delivering state-of-the-art models. FMG publishes applied scientific research frequently, and our members present regularly at leading industry conferences. FMG engages constantly with the sales team in client visits and meetings.

The Aladdin® product unites the information, people, and technology needed to manage money in real time at every step in the investment process. Aladdin enables organizations to communicate better, work smarter, see clearer, and move faster in a changing landscape. Aladdin combines sophisticated risk analytics with comprehensive portfolio management, trading and operations tools on a single platform to power informed decision-making and create a connective tissue for many thousands of users across hundreds of clients, including BlackRock and many of the largest asset owners and asset managers around the world.

Background and Responsibilities

The role is for a key member of the FMG Portfolio Modeling Analytics team in New York.

FMG Portfolio Modeling Analytics team uses multiple technologies (Java/J2EE, C++,  R) and provides  stable, scalable platform with appropriate standards and procedures to support the diverse nature and demands of a wide range of investment teams and clients.

The mission of the team is to provide state of the art portfolio modeling analytics:
* Help clients understand portfolio managers investment decisions and their impact on portfolio performance, thus make informed investment decisions
* Create integrated analytical solutions through collaboration with our partners

The culture of the team is very open, agile, quantitative, and entrepreneurial.

The ideal candidate must have strong mathematical background, excellent analytical and problem solving skills, experience in Java-based software development and design. The candidate will work closely with others in the firm to build state of the art portfolio modeling analytics in Aladdin.

For recent graduates or professionals with no prior financial industry experience, this position is a unique opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of the asset management process in a world-class organization.

Qualifications:
* BSc degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance or similar area. An advanced degree is a plus.
* 4+ years of experience in Java development in a production environment and strong object oriented skills
* Strong background in Mathematics: statistics, probability, linear algebra.
* Experience with UNIX operating system and relational databases.
* Nice to have but not required: knowledge of investment management process, portfolio performance analytics, P&L, attribution 
* Ability and willingness to learn fast, multi-task, self-motivate and pick up new things easily
* Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
* Strong communication skills
