Position Description


Tenna is searching for an experienced Software Development Manager to join the team. The Software Development Manager’s focus and primary role is to manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software related to Tenna’s client and server based solutions. As a manager of software developers, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software solutions to provided design specifications.



At Tenna, we invent IoT hardware that works in conjunction with our advanced client and server software.  As a Tenna Software/Hardware Development Manager you will manage both software and hardware engineers.


Responsibilities



  • Manage and control activities in multi-functional areas.

  • Ensure appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet specifications

  • Manage the development of multiple small releases concurrently

  • Mange your team and assist team members with their career planning

  • Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture

  • Keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and selecting the right components to solve given problems.

  • Plan deployment and release management.

  • Collaborate with the team to identify the best technological business solution

  • Actively participate in planning meetings


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

  • 8+ years’ hands on experience in a software development role

  • 4+ years’ experience in a technical management role.

  • 2+ years’ experience managing developers

  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.

  • Technically strong person, managing and nurturing a software development team

  • Capable of thriving in an Agile environment with daily stand ups

  • Willingness to deliver on any type of software development, platform or programming language.

  • Solid understanding of software development processes and methodologies

  • In-depth technical knowledge on Ruby, Java, Python, Java Script, and REST web services.

  • Knowledge of C/C++ would be valuable.

  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and Git

  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations and Project Management in an always-up, always-available mission critical service

  • Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to multitask and deliver projects on schedule

  • An advocate for efficiency and sustainability

What you need to know:



  • Fulltime, onsite with possibility of partial remote plus partial onsite after first 3 months.
