As a Machine Learning Engineer (m/f) at plista you will work on the optimization of our self-developed recommender technology that is used by publishers around the world to recommend news articles and ads to their users. This includes the analysis of large-scale datasets, creation of recommendation algorithms and it's implementation. You will work with a modern stack of technologies such as Apache Spark and AWS to structure the big data volume. In order to develop our technology further we cooperate with research facilities and universities. Our Open Recommendation Platform that we presented on many conferences gives scientist all over the world the chance to use our online data stream.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Data mining, analysis and modelling of large offline and streaming datasets
- Creating and implementing new algorithms for large-scale recommender systems
- Development & Testing (offline & A/B tests) of quantitative models
- Continuous optimization of the plista recommender technology and creation of new recommender algorithms with Apache Spark and AWS
- Development of semantic recommenders
- Collaboration with core engineers to realize models in large scale
- Collaboration with research facilities and universities
YOUR PROFILE
- Two or more years experience of having worked in a related field
- University degree in Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Machine Learning (minimum Bachelor, preferably Master degree) or comparable qualification
- Strong skills in mathematics, modelling and statistics
- Proficiency in Machine Learning, especially NLP and learning-to-rank models
- Good knowledge in statistic tool(s) of your own choice
- Good programming skills, knowledge in Scala preferable
- Motivation to learn the ropes in Spark & Scala
- Motivation to do real-time A/B-tests as well as working on a dynamic system
- Fluent in English to communicate with your international colleagues
- Motivation to work with big data volumes and relevant tools/methods (Spark, Map Reduce, Kafka ...)
- Preferable experience with recommender algorithms such as Collaborative Filtering, or machine learning methods such as experience in NLP or learning-to-rank models
- Creativity, sense of responsibility and independent work style
- A passion for big data, statistical models and maths
