DocuTAP is currently hiring for a Software Engineer to support our rapidly growing client base. We are looking for candidates who like to problem-solve and work as a team player. Must have excellent analytical, interpersonal, and technical abilities. Engineering is a key part to our ability to deliver solutions and engineers play a key role in both designing and validating solutions with our customers.


We work in Ruby, JavaScript, SQL, CSS and HTML. We use Rails, Vue.js and Node.js with PostgreSQL, Redis and Memcached. Our CI/CD process is completely automated and we release at least once daily using a single simple command. You’ll work as a trusted peer on a small team to implement solutions to real problems. We all work on each layer in the stack, we support each other and we learn from each other.


We are looking for a talented software engineer committed to his or her craft to become a key member of our growing team.


What You'll Do:



  • Build stable, flexible and effective APIs along with tooling for authentication/authorization, rate limiting and monitoring

  • Build web components that can be used throughout DocuTAP’s next generation applications

  • Develop fast, secure, scalable and maintainable web applications with Ruby and JS

  • Participate in prototyping, decision-making, and architecting web health check analytics

  • Stay involved from ideation to release of the software. Work closely with product, infrastructure and support teams to ensure customers are delighted by our new features

  • Perform code review, unit testing, functional testing and integration testing

  • Participate in spreading knowledge. Constantly learn from others and teach others what you know

  • Consistently deliver reliable software and meet project deadlines

  • Collaborate and build partnership across teams to achieve commitment of scope and timelines

  • Balance maintenance of codebase and continuous delivery to customer

  • Document high-level software and systems interaction and key decisions to make maintenance easier

  • Other duties as assigned


Credentials Needed:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent field

  • 4+ years of continuous professional experience in developing high quality and security web applications, especially front-end

  • Permanent residency or citizenship required


Additional Requirements:



  • Positive attitude a must. Highly motivated, able to work independently and an amazing team player

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with focus on security and scaling applications

  • 3+ years of solid JavaScript experience

  • Solid experience in with Ruby on Rails OR other modern web development language(s)

  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, etc

  • Experience with front-end frameworks like Vue.js, React or Angular

  • Experience with relational database (PostgreSQL) design, operation and development

  • Experience with key-value stores (Redis, Memcached) design, operation and development

  • Experience with CSS at scale, responsive design, and frameworks like Bootstrap

  • Experience and a passion for open source development

  • Experience building APIs from scratch or maintaining high volume APIs

  • Excellent understanding of SDLC, web security (SSL/TLS) and reducing attack surfaces

  • High aptitude towards solving problems and understanding complex concepts. Great communication skills to explain complex problems and solutions to different levels of hierarchy

  • Fluent on the command line and at least one text editor

  • Must enjoy competing in company-wide gaming tournaments and having fun at work


Bonus Points



  • You have DevOps experience with tools such as Chef, Puppet or Ansible

  • You have worked with automated infrastructure code on AWS using Chef

  • You have mastered the terminal and speak fluently with Git, text editors, grep and tail

  • You have experience in the health care industry

  • You have worked with large-scale web applications

  • You have something to showcase on your GitHub account

  • You have published gems, NPM or Bower modules

  • You have spent time hacking on Ruby on Rails or OSS projects

  • You have experience with object oriented CSS

  • You have design skills (illustration, user interface, typography, animation, …)
