At Zalando Payments, we are processing all financial transactions of Zalando’s fashion store and other consumer-facing apps. Starting with a flawless user experience in the checkout over the processing of the payments to reconciliation in the backend, we cover the entire financial process to boost conversion and deliver a competitive advantage to our customers through smart risk steering.
Credit Management can be categorized into three topics: factoring, accounts receivable management (including reimbursement) and dunning/collection.
Purpose. As a Senior Backend Engineer for Payments, you have the opportunity to shape the future in one of the hottest topics in Fin-Tech today: you are a key player for creating the next generation of truly intelligent payment systems.
Autonomy. Based on our microservices architecture, you and your team will own your code, and decide on the technologies and tools to deliver as well operate large-scale applications on PaaS/SaaS cloud (AWS).
Impact. You will work with dedicated teams to create a highly scalable factoring solution and to build products that will shape the next generation of payments processes including the complete account receivable management within SAP, handling the connection to banks and acquirers and supporting CuCa with payments related issues to ensure customer satisfaction. You and your team will work like a startup and take ownership for the whole development cycle - from architecture design to testing to implementation and maintenance.
Variety. Expect to collaborate with a variety of peers and be part of a cross-functional, autonomous team. You will get the opportunity to bridge the gap between business, operations and technology. You continually build knowledge and stay informed of current market trends and technologies. You educate yourself regarding financial functions and legal requirements for the financial community.
Expertise. You have experience as an Engineer in financial or banking based companies. You have acquired in-depth understanding of agile methodologies, experience in working with cross-functional teams and you are up-to-date on industry standards. You are interested in current trends in software design, architecture and web services and passionate about well-structured, readable and testable code.
Technology. You have a strong knowledge of JVM based technology stacks, such as Java and Spring Boot an in designing distributed systems, microservices, and cloud architectures as well as experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS. Ideally, you have already experience with SAP and Salesforce integration projects. Knowledge of event-based systems and event queues, in general, will be considered a big plus.
