Job Description/Responsibilities

Based at our Dry Creek facility located in Centennial Colorado, the candidate will provide engineering support within the Comcast Technology Solutions team . The team is responsible for Video on Demand (VOD) engineering operations support. The team is also responsible for managing, operating, and developing tools used to support the video platform including monitoring, configuration management, system automations and ad hoc scripts as needed. The preferred language for the scripting is Python. The infrastructure that enables these applications consists of Red Hat Linux, Windows servers, and third part appliances located across a couple of data centers. The bulk of the hardware is running Red Hat Linux. The team works with vendors and several cross functional internal teams, implements new systems and network designs, writes operational and service requirements, deploys new systems and software, operational activities, develops processes and best practices, performs research as needed, creates reports, performs monitoring, performs system administration for Red Hat and Windows, manages NetApp storage, and does analytics. Also, the VOD product is a proprietary system that requires application support and software administration (production support not programming). The expectation is that the candidate can learn the application and provide day to day support interfacing with a development team. Lastly, the team is an escalation point for operations groups and performs on call rotation for software and hardware support. On call assistance is required for this position.

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent

Field of Study: Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems

Certifications: Linux/RedHat certifications (RHCSA, RHCE) are strongly recommended. CCNA, CCNP a plus

    • Understanding of VLANs, subnets, firewall concepts
  • Extensive experience with Puppet (required)

    • Python application development (deep knowledge of language)
  • Virtualization/cloud experience (VMware, OpenStack) - Desirable
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
