The 'HERE Fleet Telematics Services' team is recruiting a Senior Java Back-End Software Engineer m/f to build advanced fleet navigation web services. The HERE Platform enables fast, easy, cost-efficient creation of customizable location-aware experiences spanning desktop, mobile or web use.

 

Our platform services are expressly built for Enterprise and enable
* access to the worlds best map, including point addressing, census data, postal code boundaries, truck-related driving data and POIs, parking restrictions, and more
* simplified development with geo-coding and multi-reverse geocoding, vehicle and pedestrian routing, traffic-enabled routing, truck, and more.

As a Software Engineer for our 'HERE Fleet Telematics Services' platform extensions you will be a key member of our growing team, developing industry-leading navigation web services and value added services to supporting vertical Enterprise market segments, such as fleet management and insurance telematics. This is an experienced position that requires fluency in the latest Java capabilities and improvements. The ideal candidate is motivated to explore and deliver the best possible solutions to our customers.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience developing RESTful web services. You should have a strong passion for technology as evidenced by your personal projects that demonstrate your aptitude for superior engineering and strong customer-centric product sense. You should enjoy working outside the comfort zone and love to learn new technologies. The position will be based in Frankfurt and will report to the Team Lead Development Team IoT Fleet Telematics Services.

Responsibilities

You will be part of our agile development team (we are using Scrum) and work with high-quality code (Unit Test, Continuous Integration) on customizations and solutions using Java Web Services, Spring Framework, gRPC and databases (JDBC, PostgreSQL, SQLite).
* Develop Web services for Maps / Navigation:
Advanced Routing, Spatial Search, Fleet Tour Planning
* Design and implement advanced business logic in the services as well as the map data compilation for it
* Design & optimize the services in close cooperation with key customers
* Implement test and demo tools

Qualifications
* Software engineering degree (or equiv.) and 2+ years of experience
* Java (or similar) and SQL
* Web Service development, server side design concepts
* Self-driven, excellent English and German
* Optional: Experience with Maps, location based applications
* Experience in larger projects / business
