The world is rapidly becoming more dependent on data processing solutions. Where data processing and reporting used to be supporting functions, these increasingly become the core of the system for businesses.
However, moving from traditional application and function silos to an integrated business-wide data store requires some clever pipelining to make data available from the multitude of legacy sources
Using the existing data is just the start. On top of this, the numbers of sensors, digital channels and connected devices are rapidly increasing, yielding ever more data that needs to be properly and robustly stored and made available for analysis.
And finally, data science models need to be trained and applied in batch and real-time to these extreme volumes of data. Models and algorithms need to be made scalable, reliable and testable. To make this happen requires sophisticated architecture, tooling and engineering.
That is why this job exists.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be:
- Part of developing the data engineering practice: learn, teach and build with the team
- Working closely with developers, data scientists and designers to create great (big) data processing solutions for our clients
- Able to connect any system to any other system using API’s, pieces of Python code or Bash scripts
- Mastering (big) data tools
Who you are:
General profile
- You have at least 3 years professional experience as Big Data Engineer (or have a solid background as a Backend Engineer, SOA Specialist or Big Data Processing Engineer)
- Quality Driven Mindset
Programming language
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Java / Python (at least one of them)
Frameworks / Platforms / Services
Must Have
- High volume data processing and analysis
- Relational DataBase (e.g., PostgreSql, MySql or Oracle)
- NoSql DataBase (e.g., Mongo, Cassandra or Redis)
- Streaming Service (e.g., Kafka)
- Elastic Search / Lucene
- Cloud Computing Experience (e.g., Azure or Google or AWS)
Bonus
